Hey guys,

Is there a way to throttle uTorrent for an IP address plugged into my router?

For example, 2 pc's are plugged into one router but both have uTorrent or p2p running which is affecting each others speed. I want to throttle or shape 1 pc so the other one can get decent speed again.

I have netlimiter installed but it only show's my processes running on this pc, I want to be able to see which IP address is sucking all the bandwidth and what is running on that IP address so I can shape it.

yes a decent router can limit and i.p address, port etc, normally under QOS section

I took a look and saw you can throttle ports and stuff, though uTorrent has the option to randomize ports,so this wont help me much.

Cant you see which IP address is sucking bandwidth with NetLimiter or something and throttle from there?

i dont also, i tried it but did not really work, i think i had the right settings though. I heard it does not work in south africa or something.

im sure someone on forum can help :)

Not too long ago (a few weeks at most) someone asked the exact same question on this forum.

In short: you can't do it with your router.

You can setup NetLimiter 2 Pro on both PC's and then administrate the one remotely.

I'm not sure if your router has SNMP support. If it has, then you can use something like PRTG Traffic Grapher / MRTG to view the bandwidth usage of your router.

Mikrotik 750 Sorted.

Get the mikrotik to dial up to the internet. You have full control over what goes where

+1.

Only problem is that its not easy to shape torrents.

I had to shape everything except for certain known protocols like HTTP, FTP & my game ports, because the torrent detection sux.

Ok I played around a little and found the port causing the trouble.

Anyone know of an app or how to throttle a specific port?

Osiris85: please read my and Prof. Merlin's posts!

QoS is useless, so you can forget about throttling the port with that ADSL modem that you've got.

Please read mine again, no mention of Qos because I read that it was useless

Using NetLimiter 2 Pro to limit uTorrent on the other PC is as simple as you can get.
You may want to configure it in such a way that the user cannot disable/change NetLimiter's settings himself. I haven't done this exact thing before, so I just assume that it is possible.

Other than NetLimiter 2 Pro, getting a MikroTik RB750 would be your best option.

The only other alternative would be to ask the person kindly to limit his Torrent downloads.

I've already said all of this once already, which is why I said that you should read my & Prof. Merlin's posts.
