How to unlock my computer from a hack without paying?

First don't use hacks. Secondly if it's just locked you can try popping it into a Linux machine and see if you can access stuff then reformat. Reason I say Linux is I don't trust you won't do the same thing on another windows pc. If it's encrypted you have bigger problems.

What encryption can can encrypt the whole C Drive whilst running windows? Half of the files can't be edited in any-case.

VeraCrypt? Bitlocker if your version of Win supports it? But it will definitely take time, especially if you have lots of data, and longer for a HDD than a SSD.

I want it in the background. No popups no interups. can handle slow responce times a bit. But if I type and something suddenly pops up I lose it.

We have tried a few drive encryption software due to PCI compliance, in the end the encryption was thrown out and marked as an acceptable risk.

Laptops's and PC's with SSD drives go down to a crawl, slower than a pc with a mechanical drive.

Trying to encrypt a mechanical drive... You'd be lucky if you could log into windows after a few hours.

Notice no such thing with bitlocker. My portable hard drives also use it, no slowness.

You probably need a new tech person, cuz this is not what happens

Yeah BitLoker did not even make the cut for us. We were looking for something that would encrypt the whole drive, and still protect you against malware that could also encrypt the data. With Bitlocker once the drive is "Unlocked" your files can still be encrypted with ransomware if there is a infected client on the network or if you download a virus accidentally that the AV does not pick up.

This was 2 years ago, not sure if it's still the case.

I love how people come post here for help, and then disappear without ever posting again, even though more information about the case was requested to offer assistance

This isn't correct at all.

That's because nothing like that exists.

It's unlikely that the scammers have a way to unlock it themselves. Why would they bother with that after you've paid?
