i know, its been done before the thread about video conversion and encoding..:D

I just want to ask again..
Say i have a movie right and its 1200mb(any one avi..etc)
Now i want to make a vcd.
Now in order to make the movie fit on a 700mb disk to play in any dvd(ld or new)..what tools do i require..

this is what i got....nero/cyberlink dvd author/xilla video convertor..and a 2 others which i forgot the name..

Now i did this last night and it did not work.
WHat i did was take the avi which was 1200mb and converted it to vcd format which was 800mb...
But i still cant fit that on a 700mb disk....but if i convert to xvid i could fit it but i dont want a xvid,i want a vcd on 700mb

Video stuff and conversions is not my area:D
So if anyone can give me a link to good advice for give your personal way of doing it...it will help alot:)

please dont say google it..I want your personal wayz of doing this

you should be able to... though you might have to spread it over 2 discs due to the vcd length limitation, 700mb = 74 minutes

That's right. If you want the disc to be playable on a standalone due player, then you're looking to write a VCD. This requires you to contest your .avi to an mpeg. Then it's only minutes that matter. If you just want to be able to fit the video onto a disc, then you'll have to re-compress the file. Virtualdub can be used for this.

If you have vista, you can use Windows Movie Maker.

You add the avi, pick the menu system and click next with a blank DVD in the drive. Microsoft seems to really have come to the plate with its writing software now
