How Vodacom makes its money

That's an extremely good pictorial of income and expenditure.

I'm not a VC fan (or for any of them, for that matter) but it occurs to me that telcos do rely on a fundamental weakness in humans to avoid change, even when there are better alternatives. So even when competitors offer better value, people stay where they are. Which enables these telcos to continue price gouging.

I recall that penalty fees for bounced cheques used to be one of FNB's big revenue contributors. Was that gouging, or just profiting from bad behaviour?

So maybe big business is just taking advantage of human weakness sometimes in the quest for profits.

What's the solution - better consumer advisors - web, NGOs? What do you think?
