How we are all pooping wrong

I was told this is the reason why hiatus hernias are so common in Western society.
Because we sit like we do, and "push", pressure is put on the wrong places and along comes the hiatus hernia (over time).
After my op, I could feel the pressure applied on the area that was fixed so kind of makes sense.

But seriously - one trip to North Africa I had a hotel room with a squat toilet. You can't read on it, but its not that bad.

What you should do while sitting on the throne is to lean back against the cistern and relax. Every now and then sway forward and backwards in fast consecutive movements (this will make the stomach muscles contract and relax, supporting bowl movement).
You could also use both hands pressing hard on both sides of the stomach area while shaking it in a rapid fashion.

By doing these few exercises "pushing" should be very limited.

Side note: this might possible just be the best and only advice I can supply in this forum. Good luck to all of you. Godspeed.

If you lean forward while pooping won't it achieve the same effect?
