Yes but one thing you forgot, 6 months down the line I will get the phone much cheaper. You in the meantime are stuck with the same phone for two years.

None that im aware of.
Back in days of Nokia handset prices did drop due to other models being released every 6 months in the case with Nokia.
The latest iPhone or flagship Samsung only comes out every 12 months and even then the old device holds its value.
