This disingenuous act showed to millions of black voters that DA is a party for whites run by rich (anonymous) white donors.
Theyre not so anonymous if you seem to have their skin color down. lol.

Lol! Blind love! They think she was perfect.
They ignore black opinion at their peril. The trust deficit problem amongst black voters is huge.
The DA fan boys think themselves as 'liberal' yet don't genuinely socialise with people from other races. Their views are reinforced by the opinions they share with each other in their white-only echo chamber; confirmation bias writ large. Blacks who meet these fan boys will tell them what they want to hear like Maimane who black voters think is a puppet.
Most blacks think that Zille is racist and had a fetish for token gestures and that the DA itself is a racist party with hidden agendas controlled by whites. In short they cannot be trusted. This capped the DA's vote share.
The DA needs to reform and transform. Zille-like token gestures just won't do it anymore.
The DA needs to speak the language of anti-colonisation and anti-racism; it should support the removal of hateful statures like Rhodes, Dick King and other racists.
At the same time be the leading party promoting free-markets and meritocracy and clean government. Without earning the trust of blacks it cannot achieve this.
It should lead in transparency and disclose the identity of its mysterious Svengali donors who attended this high level meeting. Are they representatives of big business, foreign governments?
This will build trust amongst sceptical black voters. It should also distance itself from free-masonry which is also akin to colonialism and entrenches back-room dealing.
If not after 2019 elections; the DA fan boys will again be naively blaming the electorate and wondering why it lost the status of being the official opposition.
Matter of opinion. I have a friend who lives in a poor coloured neighbourhood in Cape Town. Same ****hole as when the ANC ran things if not worse. And I'm not only talking about the crime problem. All the DA can do is point at the election results and show that in areas where they govern, the country runs better.

Not really. The Auditor General's reports aren't opinion.
Yes. Auditor general's opinion shows how crap a neighbourhood is and the lack of service delivery in those neighbourhoods. Good point.
I know of many a government department with clean audit reports, where things are rotten as 30 day old sewerage.
Not only about clean audits, though.
Look at basically all measurements of governance and they're better.

That is interesting considering the DA spend the majority of their budget on poorer areas.Have you visited any of the poor areas in Cape Town? Have you ever had a proper chat with someone who lives there to see if they are happy with services from local and provincial government? I have. There is definitely a stark difference in the levels of service those people receive compared to the traditionally affluent areas in Cape Town.

I am not pro or anti DA. I just know from what I have seen, that the DA do govern well. But mostly in the affluent areas. In the poorer areas, they are no better or worse than the previous ruling party in those areas. Things have not improved in the poorer areas by a long shot. Definitely not nearly at the same rate things have "gotten better" in the affluent areas.

<snip>...Mamaine does not pass the credibility test. He is more puppet than leader.
This is not necessarily a good idea. Those who paid millions for their homes and access to good schools find their rates going straight into the townships. This just encourages more to arrive from other provinces. That is interesting considering the DA spend the majority of their budget on poorer areas.
What is nice to know is those poor areas are better off than poor areas in other parts of the country. They have access to more electricity, flushing toilets and water than other provinces. The DA have built new hospitals in those poor areas. I saw a school at the Hout Bay squatter camp got pimped, it even got a classroom full of new apple computers. Since 2009 there has being a 25% increase in students from poor areas passing their matric exams.
And something that is important... even though there has being an influx of people migrating to the the Western Cape, unemployment has dropped.
So strange none of this is impacting your friend. I wonder what poor area he is in that does not get serviced.
While all these posts are total crap I tend to agree on this point. I don’t think I would go so far as to characterise him as a puppet, but he has a definite “meh” quality. There are better people than him in the DA.
