HP Laptop DV673Ei

I am in the same boat. I spilled coffee on the screen of my DV6, and it seems as if it damaged an outer layer of the screen. It still works perfectly, but it is now brighter on the spots where I spilled the coffee.

I found replacement screens at:
LaptopAccessories (Look for those that start with 156 for 15.6" screens.)
This cost R1150 but you have to put it in yourself.
I opened mine and the original part number is: LP156WH2-TLQ1 which translates to the 156-40CWLED1366L model. The only reason I am still waiting, is that I want to find out if I can maybe upgrade to a higher resolution at the same time. I see they also have a 1440x900 15.6 model for R1596, and a 1600x1200 for R1653 as well as a full HD model for R1767.

Hope it helps.

PS: I have a DV6-3090si model with a 15.6" 1366x768 screen.

Hey man thanks for the reply, I would be careful replacing with a higher spec screen as I would imagine you would need to have the right graphics card to get the max quality out of the better screen

Sigh...I was in the same position a while ago, had to replace 2 laptop screens - both times dogs played a part. Anyhow to confirm it is just the screen and the laptop is working fine, hook up an external screen and make sure everything is working fine.

It is fairly easy to change a screen yourself - I found videos on youtube with my model laptops and all you really have to do is make sure you mark which screws come from where as they can vary in size.

Was going to setup a screen replacement category on one of my sites, never got around to it, so anyhow:

@zamicro - your screen goes for around R850 and do not change to a higher resolution screen.

@marine1 - you would need to open your laptop for the model number

Interesting - Quickest way to find out would probably be to look in the HP DV6 maintenance & service manual & see if any of those others were fitted in that series.
Same place as here but enter your own product code - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3945150&
