I don't want a new one - but was just looking at the pricing ... like R7,000 for the new generation!

Do they still make the cheaper version nowadays or is it only that?
And if only the R7,000 version - what do the guys new to XBMC use nowadays?

Yup EOL, Esquire was suppose to come with information on what's replacing them.

And apparently you need to subscribe (pay) for firmware updates or something like that. I read one review that stated that they could not get it to work with Windows 8 and that it needed a firmware update that is seen as a 'care pack' that you need to additionally purchase.

I too was considering it but I think it looks butt-ugly. Gen7 is way better and 100x better value-wise IMHO. Pity it cannot touch the gen8 in performance

At R5499 I'd be considering buying a proper rack mounted server instead....

So the micro server is not that micro in price anymore.

I bought my two still when it was 1299.
Did'nt look back once.

They are great but for 7k sorry the as toxic said buy a proper rack.

R5500 and for what???, no HD, no optical drive so for what exactly am i paying? a Celeron with 2GB ram?
i can build a decent pc for 5500.
R1500 it was a bargain, at R5500 they are simply mad.

Is it possible the price is high because these units are being treated as single item imports currently? Cause that price is ridiculous.

I remember the previous were also quite pricey at the start and then dropped over time, usually when distributors had easy access to stock, or lots of left over stock.

Does anyone know where I can find a HD Bracket for these servers I'm missing one :(

I was thinking what is a high definition bracket, but I guess HDD ;)
