Hi all,

I have been tasked with finding a power supply for an HP dv2000 notebook. ASAP.

I couldn't care less whether it's new or used, so long as it's decent and works.

I'm in JHB.

Can any of you recommend a supplier or source for me, pleeeease? :)

Thanks, Nic

Hi Yotch,

I had a look at our office supplier's pricelist and I think I saw your HP one above in the list. I'll call 'em tomorrow.

It doesn't list this notebook, but I'm pretty sure it's fairly universal.

HP's site says it needs a 65w supply. The top of the notebook says dv2000 and the bottom says dv2700. Haha.

Thanks again.

Nic

Any idea why the supply blew? If the old one was getting too hot a 90W might be better. If the power pack is getting hot you could also try a passive cooling pad. My wife bought one of these in Japan but I think that one of the small soft pack Seagull blue gel ice packs from Pick n Pay (~R6) might work just as well - just place the supply on the pad at room temp (do NOT freeze it!).

I just remembered some very cheap supplies. The company is in Crown Mines so you could purchase online and collect at any time if interested.

I'm doing a bit of work on the notebook as a favour for a friend of a friend. Neither of them are 'computer people'.

I have no idea what happened to the power supply. All I know is that I need to source one.

I wasn't aware you could upgrade a notebook power supply like that. Thanks for the tip - and the one about the gel pack. Hehe.

Much appreciated, chaps.
