HP notebook with remote control

So I know somebody who wants a notebook with a remote control, but he does not want to spend too much. I can get a HP 550 for R5000, but it does not have remote. Would the one from my HP Pavilion work on the HP550???

The Pavilion remotes are infrared, which implies you need an infrared (IRDA) receiver port on the notebook, so as long as it has one I would guess it's possible. Also there would be some app/drivers that relay the IRDA signals to control the media player app.

You can also buy these as add ons, for the likes of media player PC in a home entertainment PC setup, so theoretically you could add it to a standard notebook, port willing.
