I've had the laptop for just over 2 years now and suddenly its started overheating. The cores seem to be fine - around 50-60 C, but the motherboard temp is giving problems. Its critical temp is at 108C, and its hit that around 4 times last night, all while doing quite resource intensive things (ie: gaming). Currently, the idle temp is at 76 C, but it seems to stable off to around 84 C on average.

I've just cleaned the fan (as much as the laptop allows me - couldnt get deep enough in to do a proper clean), it sits on a wooden table and the fan is completely unobstructed during use so I'm not quite sure what else I can do prevent it from overheating?

While I'm on the subject (more a Linux Q - sorry), I'm using lm-sensors to use for my conky setup, but it doesnt look like my laptop supports many sensors? I dont get the voltage levels etc like most people do, only 6 temps (labelled temp1-6 so pretty useless) and the two Core temps. Is this just my laptop, or my config and setup?

Thanks,
Sysem

I would strip the laptop, clean it out and replace all the thermal paste with some good stuff like AS5.

Probably just your config.
