HP ProLiant MicroServer

@nadimm: I'm seeing $165 for the unit. It's also less than 1/3 of the size of the Arctic and has a faster processor. I think that this is great value considering the size and capabilities. Many people are running OpenElec on the 847 NUC from a cheap flash drive and streaming content from their networks. The TV tuners of the Arctic will also presumably not function in SA (DVB-T2 vs DVB-T etc.). Users are reporting that the 847 handles 1080p playback very well. Personally I think that Intel could become a major force as an HTPC/media player supplier in the near future. Apparently they will be releasing i5 and i7 systems using the same footprint in the future.

Hi all
Please advise
I have a hp nl40 for few months
Have windows installed and loving it
I recently purchased a 2tb seagate HDD to increase storage
I installed the drive and at first hoping the hdd is auto detected .. It wasn't , so went into bios and was not able to trace any menu options specifically for hard drives etc
Nor was I able to"see" the 2tb drive or any drives for that matter
Am I doing something wrong?

Please help

click start
type "computer management"
click "computer management"
click disk management

if you can see the disk there, you are good - you will just have to partition/format it now. (im sure you know what to do)

I want to buy a hp micro server .but I got a few noob questions ?
1) can I use it just like a computer?
2) if I want to access my files from my ipad, laptop etc is it a standard feature ?

It doesn't come with an operating system, depending on what you install you can do all of the above though

It is a computer, you would use it like any other desktop computer. As mentioned above though it has no operating system.

So what are the best deals on the HP Proliants at the moment?

I'm looking to put together a system for a friend at the moment. Not really fussed if it's a N40L either.

Try Esquire or else shop around online but it will probably work out cheaper from Esquire if you pick it up (no shipping charges).

Have any of you guys used the artwork downloader to download disc-art in Aeon Nox?
I've only now realized you must activate an option on the left menu to display the DVD next to the cover!

Feedback from anyone updated to OPENELEC 3 please. You have to back up you db, which I do nightly any way, when you do the restore in 3, does it keep the watched/not watched info and the other settings?
I really don't feel like all the PT of doing all that again!

I can't comment on OE 3 as i'm not using it, however I'd suggest these steps to maybe help you if it doesn't keep the watched flags for some reason, after upgrading.

1) Export to seperate files - do this always to save download time. afaik your watched flags are NOT saved in these files
2) Export to a seperate single DB... I have never done this, but it might save the flags in there... so yeah, not sure if this WILL work, but just export that single DB in case

im 70% sure it would keep everything intact though, but wait for confirmation from other users here first.

Argh!! Im having a dreadful time with 3.0.0, it keeps on hanging for long periods of time. I didnt make a back up of my previous files seeing im a dumbass and all and so no I have to rescann everything just to see this version SUCKS ass!

What hardware? I am running 3.0 on my n40 with nvidia 520 with no hassles at all. The benefits of 3 are great. Proper audio handling for a start.

4GB RAM, Three 2TB HDD and one 1TB using HD Radeon 5540

Edit: Cant get my YAtse remote to work as wel!! Zeroconf is enabled as wel as all the other options... Very weird..
