Anyone in DBN have a LP bracket to sell/swap me? I have a POV GT210 and it came without the bracket ag!

If I'm gonna order online the shipping will probably be the price of the bracket lol.

Going to install Debian minimal install and then compile XBMC from the svn repo. Will post feedback. My (ex) boss set his up this way and told me it works 100%. The ATI drivers will also compile correctly under Debian.

Also plan to use the box as a proxy server, apt-cacher-ng and download manager.

Installed Ubuntu10.04 64-bit today from minimal install - had some issues with broken grub (both Debian & Ubuntu) and eventually figured it out that my install kept on installing grub onto the flash drive ... duh

All seems well

Just thought Id report back on my project...

I installed 8 gig ram (this) and used a flashdrive and installed freenas 8 to it. I had quite a few issues getting freenas written to the flashdrive from windows (using physdiskwrite) , so I burned a cd and installed it to flash like that.

Everything is working great. Currently have an external connected via e-sata and a 2TB inside. :D

I had to format the 2TB during the process of adding the drive as a volume which I had no issue with. What happens, however, if I slot in another drive from my windows box wanting to share that?

Looks Like there are gonna be a couple of different build going on with these servers.

Mine will be purley a NAS

Running UNRAID using the onboard flash.
4X2TB Data Drives
1X2Tb Parity
1X 100gb 2.5 7200 cache drive connected via esata.

is does seem like a bit of a waste of the processing power... but to have 7.5TB always accessable and with low power requirements.. I will find another way to run extra services..

Agree, run the HP MS as a blackbox NAS with unRAID and run a seperate 'Application Server' with virtualisation to do all the various services (sabnzbd, sickbeard, air video, ps3 ms, backups, firewall/router, etc.).

Are you going to connect the 5th drive on the internal OD SATA port?

1) Anyone done a performance test on this port?

2) What is the write speed of a SD drive vs normal drive? Would it make sense to use a SD drive as a cache drive?

I have read with a bios update it is pretty much standard Sata speeds

I recon with a normal drive as a cache drive the write bottle neck will be the network card.. so no point in going Solid state any old drive would work...

Postman is saying you could company via Consumer Protection Act..

But it looks like the device was R999 only on Wednesday, I think they might had a System error.. because it jumped back up straight away..

Elaborate for me, please?

I'm not too clued up, but I'm sure the Consumer Protection Act says something about if the shop sells the item cheaper 7 days after the purchase, item must be given at the cheaper price/credited to you.

Can confirm. Did the BIOS upgrade and get same speed as other drives, around 130MB/s, measured with hdparm, on the OD port. Will test eSATA later.

Was thinking more of the spin-up time, which will be eliminated with a SD. Or does the cache drive always spin?

Can't find anything about that (doesn't seem quite fair to the shop), more irritated that its taking so long to ship, the order page says 3 days. Only after you pay you find its 5-7 working days. Might be able to get them on 19(2)(a)(i) - deliver goods on the agreed date and time!!!
