HP ProLiant MicroServer

For the guys with FLIRC devices on XMBC. How do you pause of play for that matter? All I see is the up down left right commands but nothing else really?

Google xbmc keyboard shortcuts. And use the keyboard wizard to map xbmc controls. DO NOT USE THE XBMC WIZARD.

Eg. C for context menu, space bar for pause/play

Anyone successfully running the latest builds of openelec on an N36L? There's one up for grabs and I was thinking of getting it for the folks

Me! Runs like a champ. OPENELEC is so lightweight that it doesn't come close to using the 2 Gb of RAM, 1 would be fine

Can anyone recommend a low profile sound card with optical out for this lovely little servers? For some reason my htpc loses the sound connection evertime I switch my Samsung home theatre systems inputs. I have to restart the pc everyone to get the sound back. But as soon as I change the input, sound goes.

Does anyone know when we will start seeing the Gen 8 MicroServers? I know Axis sells them, but at a premium. Other places are still selling G7 N54l's for R7000.00+

Amazon has the 2.50 GHz at $478 claiming a saving of 10%.

So the prices quoted by Server Warehouse are in fact "reasonable" :)

Am using a Asus Xonar DGX, works nicely with home theatre setup and XBMC
Picked it up for R439

Where can I find low profile pcie network cards? Currently on a 11n dongle after my onboard swore a vow of silence.

Got a bracket with my old dlink, but don't want to go back to 11g. Wired or wireless.

Got mine at takealot a few weeks ago (wired). Used a voucher for a discount - thinks there's a R50 off, check the thread on these forums ;)

EDIT:
TaL have these listed:-
Asus PCE-N10 Wireless-N150 PCI Express Adapter
and
Asus PCE-N15 Wireless-N300 PCI Express Adapter

The voucher thread is here but the R50 off already expired...

My HP N40 (the one before the N54L) runs Plex Server perfectly for me. I use a Roku 3 to view the content and never once had a single problem - whether I watch 1080p files or 3D, not once have I had a problem. Granted only one device (the Roku 3) actually access Plex so that could be why it works so well. When the family want to watch, they mainly use Netflix or Hulu so their is never real stress on my HPMS.

+1 - I use mutliple viewing devices but only 1 at a time and the N45L handles Plex pushing perfectly.

Not saying it wouldn't work in certain situations, just saying it's not a good idea if you're planning to build a server specifically for Plex. There is absolutely not headroom left if you want to expand.

Thanks, I see there is a DLink as well. TakeALot does not seem to mention the low-profile brackets, but international sites do.

Yep their info was rather scarce, but am sure you could mail them to check; the retail box should have it listed.
I saw the DLink, isn't it a PCI though, not PCI-e?
