Either way I think you may have your facts the wrong way around ... the OC model and 2Gb jobbie are the only ones that doesn't show a picture of the 2 included LP brackets and they are the only ones that specifically mentions that the brackets are optional (in the listed accessories)

*cough cough*

going by your Newegg preference: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102944 (OC Edition showing LP brackets)

and I wasn't stating any FACTS, I was going by what was on their site, which as you mention is really nothing to go by seeing as everybody seems to get something different.

But I think this describes it best: "All specifications and accessories are subject to change without notice. Please check with your supplier for exact offers. Products may not be available in all markets."

Btw, those of you that cut yourself brackets: could you place the normal bracket exactly over one of the small LP brackets included with case, lining up the bottom parts, and then drawing yourself a template for the cutting?
or is there a discrepancy in the placement? like should the LP bracket be a bit higher than the the normal bracket's bottom.

D4N: is that the non-hyper memory version?

@ O-T-C OK, OK you win ... no use turning this into an e-peen contest :p

Seems like unless you have the luxury of actually handling the box yourself in a brick and mortar store, there is no way of telling what will arrive on your doorstep!

The 1GB DDR3 version with the sticker is readily available from Esquire's Midrand Express shop

Ordered the DDR5 version of the Sapphire HD6450 ... since no-one else seems to be running one I will leave feedback as to fitment and whether LP bracket is included once it arrives.

The 1Gb DDR3 version as sold by Esquire most definitely has the LP bracket included but I'm a bit sceptical about the whole passive heatsink idea in such a crammed space (and summer approaching and all that jazz if anyone is interested :p)

Have you checked the power requirements of the DDR5 version?

I somehow want to remember I read somewhere it exceeded the HP MS' PCI power capability, but the DDR3 6450 just made it.

Some more feedback:

I've built a few of these HP MS NAS boxes using 5 drives, running unRaid. On all of them I get a problem where the box hangs (needing a power cycle) when doing sustained copies, typically in the tera bytes. Some Googling seems to indicate it's a bug with this box, more specifically with the NiC when you do large copies with the Ethernet port running at 1Gb/s.

- "Smallish" copies work fine, but if you exceed a few hours, it hangs.

- From other forums (WHS); if you run at 100Mb/s, no problem. Busy testing this now. Try and copy 7TB at 8MB/s.

- From same forum, if you run a 1Gb/s card in one of the PCI slots, no problem.

- Streaming apparently no problem. Will still test and revert.

I hit that 'sustained copy' bug by streaming hd movies off the box; currently, with my usage, uptime hasn't lasted longer than 10 days. I had posted on VMwares forum (as the box runs ESXi) if anyone had encountered my issue, but I will instead try a 1Gb/s NIC in the spare PCI slot and see if it resolves it.

hahahahaha... nah no such intentions. just wanted to show that what I posted came from their site.

agree as we have seen now.

another reason why an OP post would be good.

maybe I should say: every1 pm me your HP setup with OS+software combo plus your hardware usage and say which gfx you bought and if it had LP bracket. then I make a new thread with "APPROVED" configurations.
something like:
- OS
- Media software
- Hardware added (if any)
- GFX card running (did it include LP brackets)

then maybe add something like:
- what bugs/problems/issues encountered so far

just an idea.

And you're running at 1Gb/s?

Have you tried running the port at 100Mb/s?

Also, any specific PCI NIC we know works?

I encountered the same problem (well not a hang, but the machine stops responding to network requests) when copying large amounts of data with Windows Explorer.
Using the onboard NIC at 1gig. Haven't tried 100mbit.

Hopefully someone can help.

I have my HP Microserver setup with Windows 7 Pro X64, the Sapphire 6450 1GB card, & XBMC.
It's connected to my LG 42inch LCD via HDMI.

If I swop from the Server to my normal TV ...dstv, etc., and switch back to the Server, all via HDMI inputs, I experience a buzzing noise.
The only way to stop the noise, is to click on folders in windows explorer, and than it goes away. However, switching to TV and back to Server, the buzzing will be there.

Any ideas????

Can't recall in SA - either 50Hz or 60Hz.... on the server, also make sure its outputting to the TVs native resolution (probably 720p or 1080p)

One is 7200rpm. other is 5900rpm... but internally, in my Win XP machine, I get 100 MB/s

I have tried using the HP system drive (Linux Ext4 partition) - same result, so NTFS doesn't seem to be the issue...
I can also write at 100MB/s to my Samsung 1.5TB Green drive. I think the drives are hard limited to 100MB/s so that they don't run too hot.
