HP ProLiant MicroServer

So I did this about two weeks ago to see how Windows 10 would run.

You have to be running HP Bios 15 November 2013 (2013.10.01A) for NIC to work.
Original here. https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_57720d956df94dfcbaa0e28256

However, there is also a modified version of this which allows you to use the IDE port as a SATA port as with the previous one.

I could not yet the HP tool to run under Windows 10 though to create the bootable auto flash drive.

So I had to find another way. I used Rufus to create a DOS bootable drive and then then ran the BIOS flash manually.

Thank you. I’ll download in the meantime.

My current issue is that I suspect I have a driver issue with my graphics card I have in there to get hdmi output. At the moment I see nothing. No hp splash screen. Nothing.

So I need to hookup a vga connection and hope the output is on there. If not, that means more troubleshooting. Before I can even put on the bios.

Here is the modded one.

That guide did not work though.

What I did was put these files on flash drive:

AUTOEXEC.BAT
CONFIG.SYS
HPQUSB.exe
O41100113.ROM
flash.BAT
KBD.exe
readme.1st
readme.txt

And run command: kbd /"flash O41100~1.rom -r 100000,10000 -r 1e0000,10000;q"
This is the command in the flash.bat file, but I had to re-save it to an actual BAT file as it wasn't.

You first have to flash it with the original BIOS then the modded one so you'll need to rename them and flash in the correct order.

i.e. O41100113.ROM.original and then O41100113.ROM

Anyone running Win10 on the N54L? Any issues?

Tempted to upgrade mine with a spare SSD and new OS install.
Was thinking of doing the same upgrade to SSD. Have a spare SSD lying around, and bought a 2.5" to 3.5" bracket ,so will give me options on where to install the 2.5" ssd

just double sided tape/velcro that ssd somewhere and save the bays for proper mechanical storage

The Synology Disk Station software is running 100% so far.

I was running xpenology on my N40L box for ages. Works really well, however the updates were always a mission. I got gatvol after bricking my install while updating a month or two ago and have switched over to Open Media Server.

Still busy working out replacements for some of the synology apps I was using but reasonably happy so far.

Yeah. I won't be updating. Tested updating on another PC and it crashed.

Hi guys. My N40L power supply just packed up and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a replacement. I've looked through the thread and couldn't find anything recent.

How sure are you that it's the PSU and not the motherboard? A dead motherboard could prevent the PSU from starting.

Unless you can find parts on the used market there is no value in trying to get it fixed. Will cost more than the value of the system.

First make sure you know that the PSU is definitely the issue then browse Carbonite to see if somebody has something available.
