HP ProLiant MicroServer

mmm.. no not yet, whats the average price of these nvidia 520's?

Couple hundred bucks. Try using the OSS build first though.

Will the Asus fit? That heatsink looks huge

well it has this badge?

But yeah, it looks big. maybe we need a second opinion, i'm not so sure any more and don't want the guy to waste money.

Edit: Yeah, I think it's gonna be too big.

I just bought a Gigabyte Nvidia GT610 (active cooling). Can't hear the fan at all, and fits nicely in the case.

Allthough HP says the N54L only support either raid 0 or raid 1, I got it running raid 1+0 with 4 drives without any issues.

Those running Nvidia gpu's I do recommend you read this and this as there are BSOD issues. Users have reported problems when using an NVidia graphics card, more than 2GB of system RAM, with the onboard gigabit LAN and Windows 8 or Server 2012. The symptom is a BSOD on boot with DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION.

Solutions

Disable on onboard LAN in the BIOS.
Use only 2GB of system RAM (e.g. the supplied DIMM only)
Remove the NVidia card and use an ATI/AMD card instead.
Disable the onboard LAN and install a seperate LAN card which is Windows 8/Server 2012 compatible (not tested)

I'd say that's a windows problem. Bypass it by using openelec ;)

K Im going to install OSS this time wish me luck... Dont know what the differences are but we'll see..

OSS uses open-source video drivers rather than proprietary binary distributions. Better compatibility.

Ok OSS doesnt work AT ALL all my videos are in fast forwards the whole time.. I dont even have sounds in my menus

Edit even when I change analogue to HDMI still nothing.. What a hunk of ****! Should of stayed on 2.0.0

Cool, give us feedback on the GT610's. I'd like to know if there are any compatibility issues, if they easy to install etc. Also out of interest, what was the postage on that order?

Ok so my experience with the Gigabyte GT610 so far.... Absolutely brilliant!

Easy to install
Fits no problem at all.
Its actively cooled and Silent silent silent. I had to check to see if the fan was running. I thought it was stuck or broken. Luckily I purchased two of these cards and could compare the noise output. Result......Same, no noise.

I highly recommend the Gigabyte GT610 for the new N54 or even the earlier models if you can still get your hands on them.

Take it nobody is going to help me... Swell, wasted a whole freaking day trying to get this POS to work!!!

The funny thing is it all works fine and dandy when theres nothing on it but after it full of **** it crashes every 2 minutes... YAY openelec I swear your **** just gets worse and worse with every new release!!
