HP ProLiant MicroServer

So I am thinking of buying my first HP Micro Server this month - anyone who where to get them at a decent price?

Planning on having it run Win7 + XBMC. It will get all it's media from a server stored somewhere else. If it goes well, I think I will get another two. :D

Try to get to the logs and post the error.

I pulled out my USB stick with an old openelec version and re-installed with ver 3.2- 10hrs later:
1. 1 of 4 internal drives doesn't map any longer - new mount-script had to be added.
2. SABZNZBD Suite+ is now part of a non-official repo which has to be added after installation.
3. Had to fiddle with HDMI audio(simply iterate through the combo box options until the sound worked)

Sure, it isn't perfect, hats off to openelec and SAB Suite - it still rocks.
My wishlist for next version: bloody rename sabnzdb.

I'm kinda hoping the new one becomes less expensive. with a xeon xpu those things look pretty good as a proper server :D

Just bought one from Wootware for R1599.

They are sooo cheap in relation to pretty much everything else out there. I wish stores would offer some pre-configured setups though.

Thanks guys. I'm actually picking up a S/H unit tonight from a guy on MYBB. R950 bucks. :D

Got my N54L yesterday from Esquire, nice price.

I didn't get RAM for it though, will wait for prices to settle but just running Debian + a few things and plenty of ram free for cache and so on.

Loving the server, it's been something I've wanted for ages, and the price is a no brainer!

I'm thinking of loading Windows onto mine than XBMC on top of it. Or should I just do OpenELEC only?

how is the N54L for double streaming of 1080p?

1 over network and 1 straight from machine

although I enjoy PLEX, it really chomps CPU usage and even puts ears on 3770k

and have any of you had issues putting in 3TBs?

I am very happy with OpenElec, but the again, I am using the default skin. So that might be a reason some people are having problems.

I loaded up Windows and it seems okay. Granted it has only been running for a day. Will see how it goes though.

Running WHS 2011 - it's the ideal machine ...
