Soul Assassin, with FLIRC, do you still require an RC6 compliant receiver?

EDIT: nevermind - seems to be a receiver in and of itself...

Not a single issue, have used mine since June last year, maybe you can just redo the setup or update the firmware.
 
Forgot to mention you can also use the Flirc with any remote, if you have a old TV or DVD player remote it will work just fine.

Im not sure. Ive never dealt with these techs. I have a little usb reciever on it that says: IrDA No 42850 www.lindy.com. Thats it. I remember buying it last year when I bought my Pi. Not sure if there is a problem with it. To be honest, it was more the really scary remote config file that I think scared me off. I was like...."I really dont wanna earn a degree in remotes right now". I think I ended up just using the android remote.

This flirc thing looks like it might do the job :D

Well do some digging. My 700 requires an RC6 receiver. Once that's out of the way it is simple to set up using the Harmony software - no config files need changing afaik...
 
Got the flirc aswell from procsum. Easy setup quick, i tried a whole lot of remotes all working.
Settled on using the TopTV remote - Also have the Esquire wireless mini keyboard.

Will have a look at the bios settings.

I have a 128GB ssd on my main pc and space is limited. Everything else is on the Microserver. It's just annoying ta have to wait a while for the thing to start up and access the hhd's for the network. That's the only reason I am complaining about the whole issue.
 
Has anybody had experience using a tv card with their Microserver? Particularly with XBMC and DSTV. Don't want to record, just watch. Trying to make it easier for my folks than having to change TV inputs.

Checkout the RetroPlayer fork currently being worked on: http://forum.xbmc.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=194

They have made massive progress over the last year incorporating Libretro into xbmc. It will only be a matter of time until it is included in the main xbmc branch. Here is a taste of the future of emulation with xbmc/openelec:
