Found this thread below. Want to upgrade my ram but don't want to break the bank with current ram prices. So this seems like a viable option.

No cool. I'm actually thinking of rebuilding an older little netbook that is battling under Win7 to run XP but if I can not connect it to my WHS 2011 then its not an option... let us know if you get this sorted please.

I'm looking at purchasing more ram. I know that the 16gb modules are temperamental with speed and manufacturer. However is it safe to assume that any 2 x 4gb modules ddr1333 that are not on the wikia list will work?

I used Kingston ValueRAM - works fine

A quick Google showed that (a) it should work and (b) there are a number of possible causes e.g. .NET 4 / IPV6 etc.

Short story: you are going to have to work through them :)

Got the WD 4TB Red hdd delivered from takealot today, and its not working. The drive does not spin up completely. It starts and then stops, starts and stops. PC takes forever to go through post, Debian does not load, give read error and windows as well. Tried on multiple PCs as well with the same result. Guess I'm sending it back...

drive is faulty. probably dropped during delivery.

Thats what I think as well. I could not find any thing on google of western digital red drives failing, only posts I could find was doa of drives due to bad packaging during delivery

Sitting with a few N54L in the wild and they have mainly been trouble free from the get-go. The one Win7 machine presented with XBMC problems last week that turned out to be wacky permission settings that did not allow XBMC to update its own library from some random arbitrary date. Took ownership of the settings folder etc etc and everything was back on track.

Today I'm contacted because another Win7 machine is not picking up any USB flash drives all of a sudden (open to interpretation). Did the standard trouble shooting over the phone but had to remote into the machine in the end. Images edited as required.

First did a scan for new hardware:

But that failed:

Device manager does pick up the drives ("JumpDrive") but presents with a nice little yellow triangle. Tried to update the driver directly:

It searched for a driver online, found one, but got this error in the end:
Access denied.JPG

Access denied? A few hours of googling later points me to a ... permissions error. What is it with Win7 and permissions? I checked all the permissions mentioned, and then a few extra, but everything seemed 100% fine. What am I missing here? Anyone ever had a problem like this?
