But no sound....you need sound card or low profile hdmi GPU for that

Anyone looking for spares? I think the mobo in mine is dead. It "turns on" but doesn't boot up, lights on, fan spinning etc. I think the best is to split it up for spares as I already replaced it with the "spare" N54L I had lying around. I also have a GT210, HP infrared receiver and a harmony 700 I'm not using.

I'd lock that Harmony in the safe - they're rarer than hen's teeth!

As for spares - those HD caddies - how much?

Dealt with them a few times, mostly for refurbished machines though. Never had an issue. I'd call to confirm that price though, seems very low.

This is what I thought after the excitement of such a deal passed. Chatting with someone now about a N54L. Also, should I pay an extra R1000 for it to sit in a cupboard? Does the Gen8 really offer that much of a boost?

Think it this way, the extra 1K you getting higher processing power, usb 3.0, dual gigabit nic.
