HP ProLiant MicroServer

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the newest firmware on the N54L?

My clients are set to DIRECT and the problem persists as not all my content seems compatible with the direct play.

I've done some research on this as i was using PMS on a N36L :P

My recommendation - for android, you can use Serenity and MX Player/XBMC. What this does is point to the Direct Play address, but it'll do the decoding on the client-side. I've found this works a lot better than the Native player Plex uses.

The Plex client also has the option to use an external player - i'm sure it'd work too.

For Apple, i'm not sure - you'd have to google how to use an external player on the ipad.

Edit: Just for info's sake - direct play is determined by the client's ability to use hardware to decode. My Samsung Smart TV can direct play xvid content while my LG G3 cannot. If the device reports it doesn't have native hardware decoding for the codec, Plex reverts to transcoding.

for those folk with a HP Microserver, please help me out

A while back, I started experiencing issues with copying files to my server (via network share). I googled the problem, and found this and changed the “Large Send Offload (LSO)” option. It appeared to resolve my problem straight away.

But since then I seem to be having connectivity issues with my server, when accessing it through my media playing in the lounge. It never keeps the connection active, each time I need to reconnect to my network source. Sometimes it dies mid tv series, sticks, etc etc. Its really weird.

Im not sure if its related, but Im noticing that my Netflix quality is up to crap as well. There are just so many variables I want to troubleshoot, but I want to make sure my network adapter settings are not stuffed!

Should I uninstall the adapter, and re-install to get everything back to default?

Hi

After years of seemless operation, my microserver (N40L) running Openelec gives no video out. It boots up and I can even access the shared hard drives from another computer over the network but no video. Not even at boot up. I tried hdmi on the Nvidia card, and also the onboard VGA. Both to a monitor and plasma, nothing.

Any ideas?

I can get a N36L (1.3Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 160Gb HDD) secondhand for R1300. Is it a good buy? Not too slow? I would like a N54L but they are as scarce as hen's teeth! :(

Too old, too slow and too expensive. New N54L's (from suppliers who still have stock as they are end of life now) sell for abour R2100 - R2200. The N36L is a 1.3 GHz CPU and is two models before an N54L. I've also been looking around for an N40L or N54L.

The price seems pretty good, however it still need "4 LFF Drive enablement kit" to hold 4 hdd, wonder how much that cost...

$69 usd. Wondering if this is worth it. I'm looking for another server, but not too sure if this will be worth while getting. Also not too sure if Mitabyte is reliable or not.

Thanks )ragon_\/oid. USD69 from oversea, my guess is R1.5K estimate, don't think is worth it.

After watching this guys video, noticed no e-sata port compare to microserver. give up. :erm:

From my experience Mitabyte are good. I ordered 28 Logitech Solar keyboards over 4 orders from them a while back when they had them on sale.

And all communicate was good and good delivery.

+1 ordered 4 of those kb as well
Can really recommend them. Was delivered the next to centurion and the communication I received was excellent from the rep

Shopped at Mitabyte many times and never had a problem ,their prices are good and they have a wide range of products.

I think it depends what you want to do with it, I run NL36s with openelec and they run fine.
As for the price, don't know but they probably didn't pay that for it new, I think I paid R1500 so it is steep

Yeah I know, but N54L's are like gold, people don't want to sell their's! :(
