HP ProLiant MicroServer

What is the resale value on an N40L with 4GB RAM, Nvidia GT610 and 32GB SSD?

I'd say around R2k - R2.5k.

New Gen8 costs about R3800, that's with 4GB RAM. N40L is 2 generations old and also due to it's age and very high cost to repair (if something should break) I'd say it's worth half this. The SSD and GPU aren't worth much either. You could possibly make back more by selling the GPU separately.

Hi Guys

I have a NL36 and NL40 still lying at home.

With the following:

2x 250GB
1x 2TB

2GB Ram
8GB Ram

GT210 Video card.

What can I sell the whole bunch for as I'm leaving the country soon so just want to sell it all?

You can get a N40L with the original 250GB HDD and 4GB RAM for around a R1000 on Carb, he should make the listing R2000 negotiable and take anything above R1500 as a win.

I'm gonna offload my NL54 in the next month. I upgraded to a Seagate Personal Cloud solution
Comes with 4GB Ram,GFX Card, USB3.0 PCI Card
And the following drives:
3x 1.5Tb
2x 2TB
1x250GB.

Includes a cradle in the ODD to take 2x 3.5" drives.

What do you rate its worth as a package or best to split?

In a nutshell: You're looking fro a 150W plus Flex PSU with the correct number of SATA power connectors, or a way to adapt the new one to the old spec. Last time Com-X had this: http://www.sparklepower.com/pdf/IPC/FSP150-50LH.pdf

Alternatively you could try your luck having it repaired.

I'm running out of storage space (250GBSSD for OS, 2TB internal SATA for downloads, 2 X 3TB and 1 x 2TB externals for longterm storage). I'm playing with the idea of buying a Gen8 (R3500 http://firstshop.co.za/hp-proliant-microserver-gen8-819185-421-p-28997) to use as storage only. The cost of the hard drives are holding me back at the moment...

What the hell do you still need so much storage ? I don't store movies or series anymore, but besides that this is what I have left on my micro :D

This weekend my MicroServer started complaining about the Cmos battery, Since the battery seems to be dead it cant save any BIOS setting, this means I cannot boot into windows as it keeps selecting the wrong hard drive in the boot Priority.

Its a basic 2032 battery from what I can see, I went and bought a new one but when I start up the pc it still complains about the battery.
What am i doing wrong?, the Microserver is +- 5 years old. I'm not sure if I should break my head over this and rather just buy a new Raspberry PI (as storage is a thing if the past thanks to streaming)

Thoughts?

any good prices for a 4G/8G ram for gen 8?
esquire use to have one but i think they are sold out.

You can use either. Just check online for something cheap then Google it to check that 100% works with the Microserver.

I have the 4GB stick that came with my unit that I'm not using and would be willing to sell for R350, if you're interested PM me.

Looks like my 2nd NL36 is starting to fail. People. Happy with their Gen 8s for OPENELEC/media/file server? Other options?
