HP ProLiant MicroServer

Hi guys.

So I finally got my HP Microserver.

I got an MSI HD5450 Radeon Graphics Card.

Got the low profile bracket but the card does not fit as the heatsink is too high so the tray does not slide in.

Where can I get a correct Graphics Card from?

Should I just buy this one from TakeAlot

Asus Radeon Graphics Card HD5450 - 1024MB 64bit DDR3 - PCI- E

I loaded Ubuntu and I will be using XBMC but I think I am going to load Win7 as I Ubuntu is nice but a bit too complicated for me been a Windows user only.

Some of the Asus heat sinks are also too big. Model in pic seems fine but is that exactly what you'll be getting?

Stick to Sapphire. Also cheaper.

Got mine yesterday
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
5GB Ram (for now, left that standard 1GB in)
GT210 1GB Graphics card
2TB HDD
MCE Remote

XBMC for all my media needs
Sickbeard and Sabnzbd

Do you have a link where I can get the Sapphire one from or do you sell?

I'm playing with both VLC and XBMC and it's not happy. Will try some more codecs.

South_bit I had same problem as you. Managed to figure out the problem. Try VLC, go to preferences->input & codecs then check the gpu processing check box. As was said before, your graphics card will then take over the processing as opposed to the pc cpu. Also play around with the other settings there for best picture without lag. Havent yet installed xbmc but will try that tonight and play around with the settings there.

Anyone know where i can get an infrared usb receiver? Thinking of getting a logitech harmony remote but obviously that doesnt come with a pc usb infra red receiver....

Thanks to all for the info. Have change the settings in XBMC so that the display card indeed does the work and 1080 movies play like a dream. Will do the same with VLC when I have time. Chuffed.

Those of you using this for HTPC, what are you using for sound output? I'm currently using the Logitec Z5500's and a projector so I've only got optical in.

Thanks to all for answering my questions and so fast.

I managed to get a new card with lower profile heatsink. Got it from a client of ours who sells cctv. Fitted working lovely.

Now i loaded Windows 7 as its easier for me. Tonight I shall fiddle with XBMC and point it to my media.

1gig RAM though is struggling. Need to find a 4gb chip.

I am having quite high CPU usage even before I start XBMC.

Its like over 90% and RAM is over 600mb used.

Anybody know why this maybe or is it normal?

I also cannot install Windows 7 Service Pack 1, all other updates go through fine. It keeps saying failed and reverting. I don't know if my windows is damaged somewhere or what.
