HP ProLiant MicroServer

My 5450 only works with the audio output set at Analog even though it goes out via HDMI. Strange and took a while to find via trial and error.

Mine was waiting for me when I got to the office this morning. Great way to start the week.

I got mine on Friday just before 2 if I remember correctly.

Was the quickest I ever got something ordered online, was well impressed that I could play over the weekend

Also the quickest delivery I have had in a while. Quickly heading out to grab a GT520 and 4Gb of RAM. I know I am spending the evening glued to my desk

So installed the 520 and the RAM. But xbmc on windows7 refuses to do HD content. DNLA streaming works great in windows. In linux xbmc plays full HD, but I am struggling to get DNLA going.

Any suggestions?

With windows 7 press O in xbmc and see if the video card is being used or the processor maybe post the stats when playing the HD video (by refuse to do HD content, I assume you meant it stutters?)

Not sure what your DNLA problem is, details of exactly what you're struggling with would probably help people help you

I ordered a few more HP IR receivers for my brother and some friends.. I should be receiving it within the next two weeks.. If you want I can sell you one for about R180

I use it with my Harmony One Remote, works perfectly..

Hi guys,

Can anyone confirm if the MSI GT520 has the GF119 core or the GF118. If not, any recommendations for one that does have it?

Thanks

Ok - had a look again last night. In Windows 7 the CPU usage is through the roof (at least 70%) while the acpu/vcpu etc all sits at 0%, resulting in a 9fps framerate and stuttering. I checked that DXVA is on in XBMC. Rendering mode is set to auto detect. Updated nvidia drivers, directX and installed every windows update I could find - nada.

Any other suggestions? Otherwise I might have to chuck the Windows idea and go Linux.

I have two of these servers, one with a 5450 card and another with a 6450, both running 4GB memory on Win7 XBMC.

Both seem to stutter slightly in HD scenes, only really noticeable in panning scenes, anyone have any suggestions as where to look?

I know Jannie posted something ages ago - but not sure where.

I am not sure if this was JVZ's suggestion, or even if this will help, but maybe try changing from full screen to windowed mode (or vice versa). I seem to remember that once I got my GPU accelaration configured I had to play around with those settings to get it to behave.

Mine is always fullscreen? They're dedicated HTPC machines.

It is using GPU acceleration though.

Tried both software and pixel shader modes now. Software mode seems slightly better, but 720p is still not watchable.

Stuff this, I had enough. I am ditching Windows and going with Linux.

I think it's because 10.1 doesn't support DXVA natively in windows, try a nightly build if you'd like to use windows or install an external player.

Read the pdf on this thread on the xbmc forums

lots of useful info in there as well

or just install openelec and be done with it!

For all those who are using XMBC under Win7 with poor framerates, make sure that "Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen" in video settings is DISABLED
