I have gone back and tried it a few times.
If I were not open minded, that would not have happened.![]()
I am looking for what you guys see in it. Each time I wonder why you don't use plex.
Trust me, I don't walk around with blinkers on and am not loyal to any brand. I like to use what I think is best for the task at hand.
IMO, Plex has a lot over XBMC.
There has to be a reason why Samsung and LG are licensing Plex - and not XBMC - for their newer model TVs.
The only thing I can see that XBMC has over Plex is its appliance like setups. The Linux version is in testing though, so that will not be an issue soon.
Those receivers are awesome...
There is an option in XBMC. move your mouse to the left or press the left key on your remote. there is an option that says "hide watched". Also recently added episodes / movies is quite useful. I use that all the time.
Very strange, I have a very similar box and I run my 45GB copy of Transformers without breaking a sweat. I have 8GB RAM and an HD6450 card though but that shouldnt make much of a difference. I take it your data is not on your XBMC box?
How do you copy from windows pc to htpc with openelec?
It takes forever using samba shares.
Something that takes 40 mins from external hardrive to pc take 6 to 7 hours from pc to htpc.
If I have alot to copy I take my hardrive out of the htpc put it in an external casing and copy.
Surely there is a better way
That looks awesome! I like the look of the premier. Let us know how it fits if you get it.
To copy without using samba you could log onto the box using Winscp and copy that way. If its still slow then you know the problem s not with samba.
To log into an openelec server you just use 'openelec' as the host name. Then log on with the user being 'root' and the password 'openelec'
Ok, will give it a go.
Think my problem is the slow wireless (using a duoplus).
Was going to try connecting htpc to laptop with cat5 cable and see if its faster.
