HP ProLiant MicroServer

You either want the best card that the machine can support (as the prices differ minimally) or you do not need a card at all.

Depends on what? (Except cost)

Prices do not differ minimally. HD5450/GT210 are substantially cheaper than GT520/610.

And a GT520/610 is overkill for an HTPC that just plays media, therefore no need to spend the +-R150 extra. It is however the best card for the machine, if that tickles your fancy.

I get why PP was asking about the use of the machine, as I wouldn't even be querying GFX cards if it was gonna be used as a NAS.

Hallo again people.
Need some advice on Couchpotato on my HPMS.
Been running for about 2 years now, and I cannot seem to get the downloaded movies (CouchPotato integrated with SABnzbd) to move to my 'movie' drive the files just stay in the downloaded folder...
Series work flawlessly from SickBeard, they download, move and rename on the fly ..
Halp :P

I've goty sabznbd configured under downloaders with the category set to movies. The movies category in sabnzbd is set the same as the download folder under Renaming with destination somewhere else.

Folder naming is <namethe> (<year>)

File naming is <thename> <quality> <cd>.<ext>

Might have to check permissions on your folders too

Forgetting to mention im running Openelec. - this plays a major role.

Will try your suggestion though :) Tx !

See above.. not sure how:D

First things first, remember that CP and SB should be responsible for the download once it completes. Check your mount points are still correct, the permisisons of the user under which both SABnzbd and SB run under have read/write access to the directory.

To check permissions, firstly see which user is running sickbeard/sabnzbd
ps aux | grep sabnzbd ; ps aux | grep couchpotato
You should see a these services running under a user - type
groups <user>
from which you will get a list of groups
Now type
ls -al /path/to/sabnzbd/movies/download/dir
Which will list the directory contents. It should match either the user or a group of the aforementioned services.
if it doesnt, i suggest adding both service users to a group, e.g. users
usermod -aG users <service_user>
or changing the owner of the directory
chmod -R user:group /movie/dir

Note that many of these commands are required to be run as sudo/su

OK, so I am struggling to find stock on any GT210 and even GT520 cards.
Anyone know where I can find stock on a GT210 - preferably passive heatsink?

Both my cards have heatsink+fan. Don't know where to get passive ones, but looks like Takealot does have stock of these Gigabyte ones if you run out of options.

i think the ones with the heatsink might not fit depending on the heatsink size

I have a Gigabyte HD5450 with a fan and I can not hear it above the system fan. 2TB hard drive spinning is way louder. Works great for video and sound under Windows 7 and XBMC through HDMI to Yamaha receiver.

Do you mind sending me your config(s) I cannot get my 5450 to work :))

This.
Esquire had stock of the GT520 .
You need an actively cooled one to fit or you will have to get busy with a dremmel tool on the heat sink of the passively cooled one.
