HP ProLiant MicroServer

Thanx for the advice :P

Guys, what do you use to read the "openelec' drive in Windows 7
I have put the hdd in my main pc to copy some files off it, any quick suggestions ?
Have tried ext2explore to no avail

Saw this on TechRepublic this morning, look like a good option, probably too late for you, but I'm going to try it out and keep it my bag of tools!

The GT520/GT610 do trueHD not too sure how easy it is to setup on xbmc though

was about to comment on that the GT 520 works perfectly on proliant with TrueHD and DTS MA tested and working flawlessly.

No extra drivers needed just install the CD that came with your GT 520 and voila bitstreaming works.

got mine HERE R549

SC-AS-GT520 ASUS NVIDIA GEFORCE GT520 SILENT, 1GB DDR3, 64-BIT, LOW PROFILE, PCI EXPRESS 2.0 / D-SUB X 1, DVI-I X 1, HDMI X 1

Yeeeeeah. I just ordered my fourth one with the special on like that.

Don't have any clue what it will be for, but I -need- it.
Right?

How does one order from esquire? I would like to buy the HP microserver that's on special.

Thanks, but by the time my account is registered the special for the HP Microserver will be finished...
Phone them they are very accommodating and helpful.
I think they are open Monday and it takes about 2 hours to get registered.

I'm climbing off the HP ProLiant train... been a great ride, but sold it and won't be buying it this time around.

NOTHING wrong with the device, it's schweet....I just need more HDD Racks.
I also think I need more PCI slots and perhaps a better gfx card to handle xbmc (the GUI)

I'm going to rather build a PC.... going to slide it in a cupboard under the TV so you won't really see it either.

k people, so this isn't exactly MS related, but this seemed like the best thread to ask it in.

have a HTPC in house which stores everything and streams to an MS.

it is currently running Plex.

specs: i3 540 with onboard gfx (most important specs)

now the problem encountering is, when you watch straight from it, movies tend to 'artifact' or be have pixels jumping all over the place, but from any other pc, it is fine.

should I round this up as faulty codecs? when I stream from another pc, it depends on THAT pc's codecs right? so it could be that?

Yes. Check your video settings.

Anyone tried installing Windows 8 onto their MicroServer?

I'm tempted, because Linux is hard.

Yes it works. Did it when they first released the beta, it reboots so fast the rest of the networked devices don't detect it rebooting.
