Hi

I need some assistance here.

I have a hp proliant server.

It works just fine but as soon as you put a 2nd identical processor in it then you get a red flashing light on the front of the machine.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

there is an 800W redundant power supply in already but is there a chance that it can still be a power problem.

it has a xeon quadcore 2.00ghz processor and the 2nd one is the same.

We have tested the 2nd processor in the new slot and it works fine so it is not a processor fault.

thanks in advanced

There's a Power module which need to go in next to the new CPU.

We also have an older HP ProLiant (HP ML350 G5) with two Xeons and one PSU, and it works just fine.

What server is it? Next to the processor there should be a Power regulator card, about 10cm wide, with capacitors and wires on it. Plugs into a slot on the motherboard just next to the processor....

Ok, we see the slot for it ... but it isn't in there and we don't have one. How hard is it to obtain this thing?

Depends on the type of server, HP should be able to hook you up with one easily enough; as will Tarsus or Axis....
