HP250 G6 - mixing RAM?

Haven't played around with hardware in about 10 years. My dad bought a HP250 G6, which only came with 4GB ram (and it's not a cheap laptop).

The thing is crawling - my cellphone is faster - I'd like to order another dimm for it - but not sure if I can mix ram in the laptop - ideally, I'd like to add another 8GB for 12GB total - instead of another 4GB. Anyone know?

4 GB soldered on the motherboard, buy any brand 4gb PC4-17000 - 2133 MHz SO-DIMM 260-pin memory will be fine. Plus buy a SSD drive and the laptop will run smoothly.

Is max supported size the total, or the max supported size of a single dimm? I'd ideally like to put in an 8gb dimm as it makes more financial sense (only R350 more than a 4gb)

Good luck opening up a 250 Be very patient and use your old plastic credit cards hehe. Lots and lots of little clips to break/cosmetic damage to be done if using metal/screwdrivers

Link the HP product number so people can assist properly. HP's website is very dependant on having the exact model to provide info ( usually generic for the series, but at least you can see in manuals then what the ram is/motherboard layout etc)

Looks like it's 8 GB module is the max per slot. Total memory supported is 12 GB.

If doesn't say clear it means total. You can run CPU-z or similar utilities to determine module voltage, whether installed memory is a single or double or rank and try to get the same DDR3l/4 type, it may run little bit faster.

And remove preinstalled crap, it should run well on 4GB. Clean installation is recommended.

The cheaper model with ddr3 has 1 memory slot, the ddr4 model has 2. Buying 8 GB is fine.
