let me harp on about one of my favourite subjects: single thread international downloads on a 4mbit line. It has been my contention for sometime now that each thread is limited to a speed somewhere around 512kbps. tbf, i haven't checked this out in a couple of months but i would be extremely surprised if telkom had changed that.

From my tests, that is abundantly clear and true. Doesn't this mean that browsing/email is also limited to 512kbps?

i think browsers open multiple connections. but then if a site limits connections then you can work out the rest.

Ya. YouTube seems to limit the connection to 512kbps. I'm using NetLimiter 2 Monitor which always shows no more than 60kb/s while using YouTube.
