Hello Everyone,

Just a little note to say that the Linux FAQ has been updated to support the new HSDPA cards. Man do these things FLY !!!

Respect to Vodacom for pulling this off !

hi,

I was hoping you could help me.

My old 3G Card worked, the new one U740 doesn't i get this in my /var/log/messages

can you please help me with this problem on the net i found info that the kernel can be the problem but i reinstalled suse10 same problem.

Hey gummybear,

I can't really help with the U740 - I havn't had a card long enough to play with it - I am really trying to get a card - and I heard somewhere that Vodacom is getting another make aswell.

By the looks of this, it seems as if usbserial isn't binding to the card - I have a fix for that somewhere and will post it as soon as I find it. I can't say if it will work or not - oh look - I found it :)

Code: 
modprobe usbserial vendor=0x1410 product=0x1400

Try running that after the card is inserted.

IF "lsmod" shows that usbserial is already loaded - unload it and reload it with that command...

I got my Novatel (aka Merlin) U740 card working with this modprobe command:

modprobe usbserial vendor=0x1410 product=0x1410

Check the Linux FAQ for more info ...

I'm one very, very happy camper!
