I have just got my HSDPA card and having major problems with it. Occasionally it connects, but usually I get a "trying to find Merlin U740" message alternating with "not connected". Have tried everything (replacing SIM, rebooting etc).

I remember having this same problem when I rented to try the older 3G card. I ended up not getting it but sticking with GPRS via my cellphone. Been very happy with that but have now been seduced by the promise of lightning fast speeds. So far I am very unhappy.

Anyone else get this problem? Any ideas before I go back and try to cancel my contract?:(

HSDPA Card

I am also experiencing strange problems with the new card, i.e. with the old 3G card I was getting speeds of 384k when connecting as using where there is excellent 3G coverage. With the HSPDA card, I am now connecting at 260K, never able to get to 384K again, speed never increases or does not give an indication that there is an increase, even while downloading.

Anyone can give me an idea as to why the connect speed is now 260k and never increases, as it suppose to with the new HSDPA cards ?

Can you give me the firware version of your card and the dashboard version?

Also, do you have a 64K or 42K SIM?

We need to go through your whole setup / environment to find the problem. A lot of people are running at the HSDPA speeds, so, obviously, something in your environment is not right.

1) First would be to check your stup, card type, firware rev, dashboard, etc.

2) Location?

3) When you connect do connect on HSDPA or 3G? LED status will depend on card type.

Cool, give as much info as possible, including contact details if I need to mail or call you.

Problem solved thanks

Hi V3G
Sorry to have been so rude as to not reply to you sooner.
I tried the card on my girlfriends laptop and it all works like a dream. So now we know where the problem lies.
The situation at present is that I have a very happy girlfriend with lightning fast internet speeds and half a gig of data free, and I will continue using my cellphone EDGE connection until I get around to upgrading or sorting out my laptop.

Once again V3G your service is stunning and I am very glad I moved over from MTN. Being a bit of a babe in the woods with all this connectivity stuff its really great to have your level of support. :)

Never underestimate the pro's of a very happy girlfriend!
