I am having endless problems with my HSDPA connections as of late. Everything will connect fine (Dell 5530 HSPA modem or my Nokia E71). Speeds are as good as ever, for about 2 minutes. After that, I cannot get any data down, DNS isn't even resolving.

This has been happening all hours of the day, at different locations.

Anyone else with the same, or some sort of insight into the issues?

Thanks

yep, same here for last 3 weeks. Kempton Park Area.

Same here - reported it to Vodacom many times before, and again early this morning. My experience with Vodacom this morning was not great as the help desk person had no idea what is going on and kept me on hold for 15 minutes whilst trying to figure it out.

Previously, I waited 10 days before the problem was corrected, escalating the problem twice....time for a new SP?

I have had no issues with my connection for the last few months. Maybe it's a Gauteng thing?

Parts of Gauteng anyway. I was in a different area earlier this afternoon and everything worked fine - coincidently this was also the area where I struggled for 10 days to get 3G up and running.

Phoned Vodacom data helpdesk just now and logged the fault - they claim it is a fault in the area that has not yet bee resolved - c'mon guys - I have had more issues with 3G in the last couple of weeks than it has been running...this is truly frustrating and I am considering moving to another ISP....the question is who? I was under the impression the Vodacom Data network was one of the stable ones...now I am being let down when I can least afford it.

Also, what's up with the 24hour waiting period? You know, previously, when Vodacom3G was still around faults was solved within hours, not days or even weeks as the latest trend is. I used to log a problem on this site (not even calling 155 because they are less than helpful) and it would magically be resolved....now, I wait and wait and wait...

This morning Pretoria East seems to have 3G back up and running again. Let's hope it holds!

lol. i just accepted there is no HSDPA. Its just a colored light on a 3G modem. nothing more :)

I have been receiving GPRS and not even EDGE speeds in Pretoria East for three days in a row. Vodacom help desk claim it's because I am using a Linux OS which they don't fully have support. And this made me realise that people are getting paid for being ignorant.

Hi

Have or is there anyone in your proximity to test the connection on a windows based machine to rule out any anomalies ?

Thanks

My tests were conducted using Linux, Windows XP and also Billion 3G Router. During the 3G outage, all had the same results so I am confident it has nothing to do with the OS and was truly network related. 3G connectivity remained stable for the last 24 hours and it is still working fine at the moment.

I had some issues last night where my connection would fallback to edge every few minutes or so. Speed was a bit bad too. Im in East London. A bit far from Gauteng :)

Would have been awesome if vc had some kind of status site going for people to access. (Im no super genius on the networks so my thought is probably ridiculous.) :p
