HSDPA Tweak

I would not trust that guy. Google LineBoost you get nothing. I dont have much faith in people on bidorbuy.

Just chatted to my mate on this, he received the software an is very happy with it. He says it has benefited him and connections slightly faster but well within the claims of the original ad.

I guess sometimes we judge people before hand. I am still worried about this exploit thing! Can a virus scanner pick this up from the software he received?

I would run a large number of before and after tests and average them out. A 9% difference between 2 tests can easily be accounted for.

Did the software come with any explanation on what it does to your system?

For those having not sure what to do, just do what I do...(XP only)

Download TCP optimizer, save current settings as a backup using TCP optimizer, then choose optimal settings and move the connection speed slider to 2000kbps, apply changes, reboot

you should notice an improvement

tested it properly last night, usually playing WOW between 7-11 you can expect your latency to jump to 1500-3000ms. Last night it was stable on 800ms never went more than that. Now I also found that if you connect via Windows Network connection (instead of the software that come with your modem) you get a more stable connection. Apparently the modem software is always searching for a better connection, whereas your windows network connection does not.

I think this thread should get bumped. Best tweak out that works very well.

Not wanting to rain on your parade, but the whole network seems to be better the last two or so days. Maybe a possible explanation for the improved performance?

What are others, without the tweak, seeing?

I did the tweak on Saturday and immediately noticed an improvement..still going strong..

No improvement for me either. Did 3 back to back speed tests.

Did you guys reboot after making these changes? I am still happy with my improvement :)

Hi there, were you using an application or did you apply the registry settings as outlined above?

Keen to know why your results differ to ours, most of us really can account for better performance

I used TCPOptimiser and clicked optimise, put the slider up and closed the proggie. My Laptop proceeded to reset itself and I did Speedtest.net. Results were not an improvement, infact it was a bit slower (although the speeds are never the same anyway).

Did you do the registry tweak?

There are so many elements in the end-to-end chain when you do a speed test, you should try and bypass as many as possible.

Best bet would be to do a speed test to the Vodacom speed test, to ensure National and International traffic don't affect you.

You're telling me! :D I did a Gamco speed test the other day and it reported my speed as 80Mbits(yes, with a "m") a sec. Holy crap, HSDA is fast but that was a shocker :D !

Speedtests are like voodoo, true, but I just treat the reported speed as a variable. It the variable stays within 20Kb of the previous var, I judge the speed as unchanged.

The file was cached by your browser - thats why you had 80mbits. Changed registry as described above with reboot. No performance increase. XP Service Pack 2.
