We have a front glass panel that gently slopes and unites with the full-metal body, which comes with an appealing chamfered rear frame. Reportedly, the build of the phone is quite sturdy — HTC claims that the phone has been subjected to some pretty extensive durability and temperature tests.

Now, it seems that the signature Boomsound speakers are going nowhere, though they are no longer stereo ones. We have two speakers on board, with a woofer at the bottom that is responsible for low frequencies, and a tweeter at the top that conveys the rest of the audio spectrum.

That's not all, though! Audiophiles, gather around: looks like the HTC 10 arrives with an improved headphone amp, capable of delivering twice the output of a conventional amp, as well as upscale 16-bit audio to 24-bit. A high performance DAC has also made the cut. All in all, HTC boasts its HTC 10 sets new standards for audio reproduction, but we can't attest to that just yet.

DxOmark tests HTC 10 camera, tied for the top spot
DxOmark has published an overview of the camera of the just-announced HTC 10, and it immediately takes top spot. That is, tied at number one with the Galaxy S7 edge, both scoring 88 points out of 100.

HTC 10 has IP53 certification: lightly protected from elements, but don't take it in the shower

But why the heck doesn't it have FM radio??? Not too concerned about the absence of IR, but I listen to a lot of radio.

Qualcomm got rid of this feature in their high end chips. I have no idea why. I use both the FM radio and IR blaster on my G4 and I will miss them when I upgrade.

We pay more for less these day. I can get a cheaper phone with HD graphics, LTE, SD card upto 32GB and FM radio at 40% of this but the chipset will be so horrible I will miss the high-end phone.

Why would anyone choose this over:

SG S6+/S6E S7/S7E
LG G4 / G5 (Ok the G5 has some issues but still)
Nexus 6P
Sony Z5

HTC are the OG's of Android. It's sad to see what has happened to them. Lacking any innovation and ambition.

HTC was very promising when they were first launched. Had a huge amount of issues with the HTC Tattoo and they gave me a Magic. That was almost as bad so they game me a Wildfire that didn't give issues.

That experience left me with a sour taste though. My sister got a One M7 and that was decent but I've never owned one since.

I think they lost many customers due to the 4MP camera not being up to scratch

I'd gladly take the HTC 10 over Samsung's 2015 range (S6, S6E, S6E+, Note5). I'd also take it over the LG G4 and G5 (wouldn't even think of touching the 5), Nexus 6P and any Sony.

On the other hand, I'd take a S7 Edge or Huawei Mate 8 over any phone available at the moment.

The HTC 10 does seem to be a good phone though, beautifully built, and nicely specced, but unfortunately it doesn't standout the way HTC's used to in the days of the Desire and Desire HD.

Does anyone have any news or ideas if and/or when Vodacom will be getting the HTC 10?

I dont care what anyone says, I want this phone.

Having dual speakers and a 2k non-Super AMOLED screen, this will work almost perfectly with my google cardboard VR glasses

Now I just need a 2TB microSd card

Have you bothered to compare the phones all the sheep go for against the HTC 10? What's happening with them is an amazing comeback - but what you say is not worthy of me proof. Your statements are full of facepalm, and lack any substance.

I think it's more from people being afraid of not having all the Megapixels. Amazing things can be done with the M8. I have the phone, and it's sufficient, unless you zoom in. Unfortunately I don't have a steady hand, so my only gripe is no OIS.

Of course, there were issues with many M7's and M8's having a purple hue - I can understand people being afraid because of that. But that's what a warranty is for.

Do you buy a phone with the intention of selling it once it's increased in value? If so, then you are correct. But that applies to all phones.

I had an M7, no purple hue. The previous owner had it replaced. I had it replaced as well because the camera lens was not centered when I got it.

Great phone, awesome build quality but the photos did miss that clarity that say an iPhone 5/S or Samsung S4 had.

It replaced a 5S as a temp phone, then traded it with a mate for his 5S and as much as he loved it, he got a 6S when his upgrade came along

Nope
We know for almost certainty that a new flagship phone will be released from a major manufacturer every year on almost the same day. Yes?

And we know that more and more people want that flagship as soon as it comes out. Yes?
No one is prepared to keep an S6 for 2 years so what do they do? They sell it.

We know that there's always a demand for Samsung/ Apple given the rep.

Now weigh up your 1 year old HTC against a 1 year old S7/i6. Which phone do you think/people will go for?

Therefore your HTC is worthless when the new version is released and you now want to upgrade, which as I alluded to earlier, is becoming the norm.

Assuming of course they still in business which leaves you with even less support as "loyal" customer.

Better off getting a cheap Chinese knock off.

Bottom line is that the company is dying.
