Guys,

I have a HTC Desire HD, could someone help me with the MMS setting please? I phoned Vodacome but they say they don't have setting for the phone and can not help me.

Yeah, easy.

Go to : Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > MMS.Vodacom & make sure the IP address is 196.006.128.013 for Proxy & MMS proxy. That's it. Should work now.

My dedication to this phone knows no bounds - I was in my bakkie, just about to leave for Hermanus from Durbanville, when the woman realised the one in stock over there, is also already on hold. Anti climax of note!
Phoned 15 MTN branches yesterday too... there is a serious stock shortage obviously.

Androooooooooooooooooid *drool* must have.

You were about to drive from Durbanville to Hermanus for a Desire HD? Crazy!!

But that's the kind of dedication we expect from all Desire HD owners. :)
 
kingrob, thanks for the help, at the moment I did not have a MMS access point name, so I created one, but still does not seem to work, thanks for the help though

When I got my phone, I just put in the sim and all Vodacom's network settings were on my phone. Same settings I used on my iPhone.

However.....I just checked www.vodacom4me.co.za & it says I'm "provisioned" for MMS.....maybe something Vodacom must enable on their side?

Got 3mms then stopped working again, can any1 assis?

Spoke to leaf and Vodacom no1 can help.

Hi guys, I’m thinking of upgrading to the Desire HD from mu Nokia 5800, only thing that concerns me is the battery life. How long do you guys get on average on this phone. I know when you get it you can’t put it down and you drain the power quick, but after all the excitement settled, how long does it last on average?
 
Kingrob, thanks for that post, I found the mistake in my default setting, the Proxy : 196.006.128.013, mine is Proxy : 196.6.128.013, without the 00 at the 6, fixed it and everything is run awesome. I ow you a beer m8!

Not sure if you're still looking, or whereabouts in Cape Town you are, but you can give the MTN store @Soneike (in Kuilsriver) a call, 021-906-0781. I was trying to find HTC Desire stock for about 3 weeks last year, having no luck at 5 different stores who kept saying "we're expecting a delivery in a few days", when I eventually gave them a try. Got a call back not even 2 hours later, "Got your phone, I'm preparing your upgrade paperwork so long, see you later". Awesome service.

Thanks, but I grew tired of waiting for MTN and went to Nashua mobile instead - got sorted almost immediately.

The 'phone is truly awesome, the only downside being the relatively poor battery life.

I'm getting two days + out of my battery now, so extremely happy.

Once you've stopped playing with all the widgets (it will take a while, cos it is such an awesome phone), then you'll organize your phone properly and see the difference in battery life.

Second option would the Galaxy S, but these seem even more scarce.

If I can't get either of these I might go for the iPhone 4, but only as a last resort. Unless of course there is some closer alternative which I've overlooked.

Lastly, please don't tell me to wait for the Galaxy 2 etc., the above are already major overkill and I'm sure they'd serve me well for the next two years.

I work for Virgin Mobile in PMB and I can get you the HTC Desire Classic 300 for oonly R320 a month x 24 plus 1000 free sms's worth R600 a month and R300 airtime.

We can also deliver the samsung i9000 Galaxy S fo the same value as the HTC Desire.
 
I am due for an upgrade, I have also grew tired of waiting for MTN to get their stocks and thinking of going to nashua mobile instead, but can another one tell me if nashua mobile can actually upgrade my current MTN contract (the contract was with italk cellular, now MTNSP) or is MTN the only ones that can do my upgrades? Thanks!

You will have to give MTNSP 1 month notice that you are terminating and then fill out a new contract application with Nashua Mobile and tell them you want to port your number.
