HTC Desire S - ICS official update

Hi guys

My wife and father both use this phone. Dad is on mtn and so is on Vodacom.

I'm sure I read a while back that there was supposed to be an official update out?

Shame they still using gingerbread...

Anyone got some info for me?

It's very easy, just check the phone if there is an update.

Settings > About Device > Software Update.

If there is a software update available, it will tell you.

*Remember that a HTC phone is not a Samsung phone, not so easy to load custom or other Samsung ROMs.

I meant other than the official update through the phone

I read about a 4.0.4 update through the htcdev site but I'm not so sure about that? Apparently the update isn't a version that was supposed to be released to the public...

Hence no update through official channel...

As far as I understand, there isnt an OTA update. The RUU was released by HTC and you have to manually install it, dont think its too difficult to do. From what I read it was pretty stable just one or two minor bugs, like you cant copy and paste urls on whatsapp/sms. Thinking of flashing one of the stable custom roms. For some strange reason my phone just restarts randomly during certain calls.

Use the WWE version, works great

Yes you can change the theme when you install IIRC.

How safe is it to install ? I don't want to brick my phone.
