Hi there,

Does anybody know if Vodacom will be getting the HTC Desire S on contract or top-up? I have seen that its not listed in ocleroux's Vodacom SP Monthly Deals posting.

But when asking around in the Vodacom 4U stores, the usual answer is no while others insist that I actually mean the HTC Desire Z and some staff says that the Desire S it should be in store next week?

Can anybody please shed some light on this issue?

Thanx!

Ok thanks, yes that may be the best option to get a clear answer!

Thanx!

Well boys...I checked on our ordering system and we dont have it uploaded on it. Soz

Sigh, I'm also looking into getting this phone :(. I'm in desperate need for a new phone, and after being stuffed around by vodashops, I figured I'll wait for the new phones to come in! But this isn't looking promising ockie :(

Are any of the new HTC's on the ordering system yet?

seriously :erm:, I thought the new HTC's were released like ages ago . Damn, either HTC hates us, or our Service providers are pretty slow to the mark.

Just because HTC releases a new phone it does not mean that Vodacom will release it also. When they are planning on releasing a phone, the phone needs to pass network testing first etc etc. This can take time.

The bottleneck is mainly the local distributors (Leaf et al). They first have to get it here before the MNOs can test etc... and they drag their feet. I'm not sure the MNOs are that much better than they used to be with their testing turnaround times. I'd say something importing previous generations and reselling as flagships, but that would be largely unfounded hypothesizing, so I wont :)

For example: HTC Desire S and Samsung Galaxy S II: Both announced Feb at MWC in near final state. Both released (for purchase in the UK) early April. Neither officially in SA yet, nor even with an official landing date (that I'm aware of).

Apparently June : http://mybroadband.co.za/news/gadge...re-and-Incredible-launch-dates-confirmed.html
Yet no word... I guess it's a situation whereby the service providers are all dragging their feet, and companies like leaf are the only ones bringing the phones in, so as long as they are the only ones with the right to bring in the phones, they can charge what they like and wait for their current stock to completely deplete, and only then will they order new stock.

Whats even more fun is the exorbitant prices we pay for these phones. Ahh well, I'm sure we can expect them in July at MTN, Vodacom and Cell C.

Ooohhh....attitude!

If Vodacom wants to make money and not give it all away to MTN & CellC, they need to be quick about the HTC phones.

Just a friendly tip to Vodacom. I'm nice like that. ;)

So has anyone received an updated response from leaf yet? I'm having no luck...
