HTC Desire S Stuck in reboot loop

Last night my wifes desire S got stuck in a reboot loop it kept showing the Splash screen animation and sound (HTC Quitely Brilliant), only way to stop it was pull the batery out, I couldnt figure out how to fix it, so went to HBOOT and did a factory reset and that sorted it out, just had to restore what ever info i could - luckily she only has phone numbers so nothing was lost.
Its stock and dont have any custom ROM loaded

Just want to chek has this hapend to any one else, is it just a fluke once off or will I need to take the phone in?

Yep sense 3.0 and android 2.3.something what ever was the latest update

When you put the battery back in, did you try and boot normally or did you go straight to the recovery?

boot normally tried a quite few times before going to recovery, then tried the boot optins there, then finally last option was factory reset.

now this is another problem, it doesn't seem to update contacts from the phone to gmail

Try unsyncing and then resyncing the gmail account, also check if you saving contacts to gmail and not offline.

thanks it was contactacts she saved to the phone and not gmail
