Hi, about a week ago i noticed that my phone lags ALOT. opening the gallery takes some time and loading images takes even longer. im not sure if it is a virus however when i plug it into my pc , no viruses is found. i also always check for updates and install it.

typing is sometimes a nightmare as i will type and it will be delayed to such an extent that i think i did not pres hard enough and press again and the letter will suddenly appear twice!

is anyone experiencing this? or should i download and reinstall the software (froyo). oh and the device is not rooted

thanks

1st question have you removed the battery and do a hard reboot.
2nd question have you installed AVG free or other av's from the android market onto the phone. It doesn't help scanning the SD card with a PC's anti-virus as it wont pick up rogue applications, it will only find PC viruses that wont affect the phone anyway.

Oh and I dont think its a Virus unless you install apps from untrusted sources like Chinese web sites ;)

Do you use a task manager? Maybe there is something sitting on your phone hogging the CPU. Has your battery life decreased at all since this started?

if you dont come right. save all your data, pics, messages, contacts and do a hard reset and start fresh

have not done a hard reset and i have a app called "antivirus" installed which usually scans my phone now and then and as i add new content

i do not have a task manager as i also thought it would not be a good idea to have one but i see that i might need to install one just to see what app is using my cpu excessively

how many apps do you have? try uninstalling the anti virus app and check how the phone behaves

It sounds like you are running AVG free if that is the case then you dont need to uninstall it esp if you subscribed to the findr service for tracking your phone via the web, as for the task manager install something like Watchdog and not the Advance Task Killer crap.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zomut.watchdoglite <-- free version

other than the apps that came with the phone, i have about 30 installed apps. i also have used 3GB of my sd storage but i dont suppose that would slow down my phone?
will uninstall antivirus later and provide feedback

edit: yes i do have avg free and will get watchdog now

If its the Desire HD

Fiance had the same issue. Did a bit of research a while ago...and found out that you should turn USB debugging on. If i remember correctly, Settings> There might be a sub menu called Development?> USB debugging. Gallery which took 5min to load images now takes a matter of seconds.

I don't use a task manager.

But it's useful for tracking applications that are hogging cpu. Try system panel to monitor app cpu usage.

Sent from my HTC Desire using MyBroadband Android App

This worked for my Desire HD..not sure if it applies to you but its worth a shot....Turn USB debugging ON

My CPU Consumption went from 99% to 10%...battery life is now MUCH longer
