Let's take it one step at a time, my dear Elimentals. At least this is a very significant step by turning a gigantic phone (that can do anything but make a phone call) into something that resembles an actual tablet. Remember the Flyer hardware is also in itself literally "almost so last year".
Just received a notification that there is a software upgrade available for my HTC Flyer.
The upgrade is for Android 3.2 Honeycomb, and is 210 Mb.
User interface will change, but all user data will be unaffected.
Will see what it is like once the download completes.
hmmmmmmmm......
ok........
First impression is that this is going to take some getting used to.
The 4 "buttons" at the bottom of the screen are no longer there. Instead they are replaced with a taskbar, with a bunch of new icons.
The default colour is also interesting. Blue. Clicking on an icon I get a "loading" sign that is similar to windows 7 - a blue spinning cirlcle.
What I don't like is that there are 2 homescreens on either side of the homepage.
In the past I was able to scroll through all 5 homescreens continuously.
Now I have to go 2 left, then 2 right.
The scrolling seems smooth, no lag or hickups so far.
Only time will tell whether this upgrade is worth it....
Can you now use the pen to do normal menu navigation ?
Sent from my HTC Vision using MyBroadband Android App
The pen now works to do all normal finger taps.
On the whole I think the upgrade is for the better.
Being an "ou toppie" I prefer to use what I know. Getting used to the Flyer was one thing, now I have to get used to it again.
One thing that does bug me though, is that all the secondary home pages have split screens, meaning that you can fit 2 widgets on every screen. I am more used to the larger displays, so this will be something else to get used to.
