HTC Hero accessories

Anyone have any more info on the original question of this topic? Getting a Hero on Tuesday and am a bit concerned about difficulties carrying it around safely. Is there a chainable or belt-attachable pouch available anywhere in JHB?

Also a bit surprised there's no dedicated charger with the unit (from reading these comments), can someone tell me roughly how slow the USB charging is then?

What do you mean "no dedicated charger"? You get a normal 2 point socket where you plug in the USB. Takes about 2hours for a full charge.

THIS is what made me think it didn't come with a dedicated charger, is this chap confused or am I reading him wrong?
 
Haha. o okay! What he means is that the charger cable and the data cable is the same cable. So what he's complaining about is that he wants a charger cable and a usb cable separate. I like the fact that the one cable can do everything (normal charge, usb charge, car charge and data transfer.
 
Ah I get you then. Still a bit concerned about the whole pouch fiasco (and the reviews that claim performance is shoddy though I guess I can try the slightly confusing rom update orrrr just wait for leaf to push out one) but glad to hear at least one of my worries was baseless!
 
Eish performance is everything except "shoddy" even with the standard ROM. So another problem solved! :D
 
I bought a pouch from Chatz cellular yesterday. It is a Body Glove and looks really cool. Not too expensive at R130.

I would really suggest having a look at their stores, lots of different pouches etc.

PS. The Hero is far from sluggish, I am very happy I decided to upgrade from an iPhone.
 
so.... many months later, no pouch or cover, i have not a scratch on either the front or back. ive dropped this phone many many times too. pretty darn tough.
 
i have dropped mine once...on concrete paving and it has scratched :( its not that noticeable but it eeks me nevertheless

Same here, except I don't drop my phone.. not yet!
 
Just spoke to a guy at Vodaworld, he says that they are expecting accessories for the Hero to arrive from the middle of Feb, but until then nothing.

You can get a comprehensive range of HTC Hero accessories on eBay. Use eBay.co.uk, as the American HTC Hero has a different shape.
You should search for bundles. I found a car kit, screen protector, pouch, 2 cases etc in a single package.
Go to the P&P tab on the description to see if they'll post to South Africa.
