HTC ICS Update

I installed the update, looks better and also performance is good. There is 1 issue, i transferred all my apps to my sd card and its still there coz the space is still taken up, but the new software doesn't recognize it as apps and its not on the menu. PLz help, dont wanna download them all over again.

has anyone with the links crashing in whatsapp tried playing with the app associations settings?

there is a workaround if you root your phone
ive not yet installed whatsapp or had an issue with links in other apps
but im asking cause i see app associations in settings and wondered if anyone tried it for the issues?
Nope, found a workaround?

How do you resize apps on homescreen? also wanna change the wacko lockscreen but keep face unlock, suggestions?

You can't resize apps (I think), only widgets. Click and hold the widget until it vibrates then drag it to the size of your preference.

Anyone notice screen lag when rotating between desktops and opening/closing apps? Tried disabling the GPU forced rendering option but it made no difference.
Also noticed web browsing is extremely jerky when there is image content (compared to GB).
Battery performance is below GB but will try calibration again.

the stock official rom is very laggy
if you dont mind rooting
ice ds 5.2 is exactly the same as stock, but its much faster and ive had no issues.using it for two weeks now

@mayurh
Did you make a backup of your GB ROM before the ICS update and if so what software did you use?

I really like to the look and feel of ICS but it's performance has me wishing I stuck with GB.
I'll have a look at the ICE DS 5.2 option and maybe root instead.

i didnt install the offical update from htc
i rooted, and manually installed the update( keeping root)
its quite laggy
you can roll back to gb very easily from ics. thats why i did this

how long do you have your ds?
mine is less than a yr old but i didnt have any issues. so i rooted using revolutionary
i can unroot if necessary but im very happy with ice ds 5.2.
hoping for cm10 official soon
fallout sense 4.0 rom is also quite nice but a bit slower than ics ds

Hi mayurh
Thanks for the feedback.

My DS is almost 11 months old now.
It has HBoot 2.000.002

Do I need to downgrade the Hboot to run the ICE DS ROM (revolutionary does not work with my version of Hboot) or can I install the rom (keeping the same hboot) using Superoneclick?

you had 2.3.5 sense 3.0 i presume?

if yes, then you have to downgrade hboot and flash older ruu, then use revolutionary( this is what i did)
just follow the steps on xda and you shouldnt have any issue

please be careful have you checked which emmc chip your ds has?
if its the one that can go faulty. then maybe you shoudnt root or flash a new rom, as there is a risk

Pardon my noobness but I haven't been flashed a rom before :-)

Yep, I checked the emmc chip and it's the "good" one.

So if I understand correctly - If I s-off and root, I still have to downgrade hboot even if I only intend to install the ICE DS rom?

yes u need to downgrade for s-off and root to work
once you downgrade to the sense 2.1 gb rom then s-off and install super user to root
then you must install a new hboot that will allow the new ics roms to work, flash ics ds and you should be happy

Thanks for the info!

I see it's possible to s-off and root even with hboot 2.000.002.
I was hoping to install the rom after doing just that.

hope it works ;-)
Cheers!

I reverted back to 2.3.3 sense 2.1. My phone is brilliantly fast now. I was frustrated with ICS on Desire S.
