Hie guys. I am due for any upgrade end of this week. I have been using Nokias ever since. Now I have the Nokia N73 and must say I am somewhat disappointed with it. I think I can afford the HTC Magic or HTC Tatoo on Talk 130. Not so sure about the HTC Hero coz I think you'd need to top up some cash for the phone. Does anyone think the Magic is a good phone. I think the screen on the Tatoo is too small.
 
got mine free on a vodacom talk 120s. BTW Im very happy with the phone. The Magic's screen is also much more responsive thant the Tattoo.

Okay. That's good to hear. Does it have the same specifications like the HTC Hero, I mean in terms of processor, ram etc. And would you know if one would be able to update it to Android 2.0

I have a Magic and it is without a doubt the best phone I have ever had. The Magic's hardware is identical to the Hero. The only difference is the camera and the head phone jack.

HTC has released an upgrade to the Magic which gives it the same Sense UI as the Hero it is just a matter of time until we receive this ROM from Leaf.

As far as the upgrade to Android 2.0 is concerned, it hasnt been confirmed that the Hero, Magic and G1 is receiving the upgrade, but HTC is releasing the HTC Leo next month which has Android 2.0 with Sense, which hopefully means that the rest of the phones will receive the update by January/February.
 
it has identical hardware to hero. except hero has better screen and headphone jack plug.

and obviously doesnt have Hero Sense user interface.

HTC said that Hero will get the upgrade, but will skip 1.6 :p
Also the HTC Leo = HD2 that runs on WM6.5

Nobody in their right mind uses official (stock) roms in any case. The ROMS cooked by the guys over at xda-developers are far superior to the HTC released ROMs, and the variety available makes it all the more fun.
 
Thanks guys, I finally got the HTC Magic yesterday. And I can only say wow! I am impressed with this phone. Its slightly bigger than my old N73 but thinner and way way lighter. I am loving it already.

I just noticed it has Android 1.5. Is it possible www.leaf.co.za have introduced version 1.6 coz I want to try out the Google Maps Navigation?
 
Have a look at forum.xda-developers.com. They'll have all the Roms you want.
