Hi,

We got asked this question on the Official HTC One Thread:

Ok, so is the "HTC Rep" just promoting this phone on MyBB and will then disappear again, or can we also ask questions about other HTC phones, like the HTC OneX+, etc.

Is the HTC Rep here for the long haul?

So here's the answer:

1) We aren't HTC employees, we just represent them on the forum and feedback to you on what's happening with HTC in South Africa.
2) We can only share information on the forums in line with HTC embargoes on information. If we can't tell you, we can't tell you.
3) HTC South Africa does have a local office and is here to stay.
4) Repairs are now handled through your mobile service provider and HTC does not have any HTC stores as was the case when there was a distributor in SA prior to HTC entering the country.
5) If you're having a problem with repairing your HTC phone, we can pass the query on for you.
6) We'll answer any questions we can on device specs, apps, Android, Windows Phone 8, why HTC, how to pick a phone etc.
7) If there is anything else you want to know, just ask and if we can answer, we will.

So, fire away.

I have a question :

Will there be JB v 4.2 and/or sense 5 updates for the One X ? The hardware is certainly more than capable.

No word on that as yet.

If you look historically though, software updates generally come several months after the release of a new device and you have to remember that the HTC One has a higher spec hardware to the HTC One X.

It remains to be seen whether the One X could do what the One does with the Zoe videos for example. It may be able to, we're just pointing out that hardware differences are important when software upgrades are being considered.

Thanks for clearing that up. Much appreciated!

I dont have questions more like sugestions, ive become a bit of a HTC fan boy so response to your points i think you guys could use:
1- cool
2- cant expect more i guess
3- I know this , you know this and a few of informed people know this, but the SP's stores don't or are spreading mus-information seriously messing up your rep BTW- my wife went to mtn to ask is the desire x worth the literal extra per month over the desire c(you can thank me i made her an HTC fan now) she got told HTC is no longer in SA and MTN wont get new stock and no support bla bla she rather get a samsung- she knew better so didn't bother with the dude told him off and told him rather do her upgrade elsewhere where she wont get BS- I seen the same story posted on your FB page (im going to assume you run that as well? ) - not every one will know this and then don't wonder why sales drop. your guys marketing is lacking short of us fan boys and word of mouth there isnt much adverting in SA - why
4-my suggestion get an office where people can book their phones directly with you 1 reason as per above, and another from personal experience the never ever take note of the problems correctly - and its not the sp that gets bad rep its you
5-nice thanks
6-good to know :)
7-cool

I do have a question, seriously why the delay compared t the rest of the world with updates, I know the whole SP testing causes a delay, but apple never has this problem

Thanks for the constructive feedback. It has been passed on to HTC South Africa.

As to the software updates, that's not something we or HTC South Africa can answer. Software updates are handled by HTC and the local team is not involved in the technical process.

Yep!!! My wife handed her One X in at MTN Tygervallei to get a quote for insurance to fix a cracked screen (only the top layer, phone working still) Needless to say, 2 months and a million calls later, she got it back, no quote and the reason being "Customer rejected quote"
1) MTN sux... period. They really sux!!! I have never seen such incompetence!
2) Blaming it on the repair guys and then on HTC, does nothing for HTC's reputation as well as MTN's.....

I am so sorry that I ported from Vodacom to MTN!!!!!

Love the One X though

I have a query where can we get Accessorise, very few stores stock HTC stuff :(
Specifically I need a Battery for a desire HD - my buddy needs one desperately.

If you want to buy a battery, call Regenersis on +27 (0) 11 237-7800

Why does HTC.co.za not work...and why is there no african / south africa option on the htc.com website...

The HTC domain is controlled from HTC HQ, so we can't answer that. We will pass on the feedback though.

When can we expect HTC One availability from our local operators? Im getting one ASAP once released :D

HTC SA fail...last post on the 28th of February.

Why is the 32GB version only being released. Why not the 64? How long after the initial release will we see the 64GB version?

I also wanna know.

Apparently HTC One rollouts have been hampered by component shortages. Samsung G S3 is due in SA in April ... Im hoping the HTC One will be around the same time period. HTC all the way....
