You have 2 choices - either you let the device go to Leaf, the importers, or you find a Pakistani repair shop that can do it for one tenth of the cost that Leaf will do it for.
That is if Leaf will even touch the thing - they might just say it is BER (beyond economical repair), or FUBAR.
It's not SA-based but www.cnn.cn is a good option if you're technically minded and feel like you can install a new screen yourself.
Their prices are pretty reasonable. The same thing happened to me with my S710 and Leaf quoted astronomical sums to have it repaired. I bought a replacement screen from CNN and fitted it myself.
If I remember correctly, you can choose shipping options which affect the price. There weren't any import costs in the way of customs - the parcel just sailed through.
That said, Leaf's prices have come down. They quoted me in excess of R1.5k to replace the screen last year.
