Hi

Do you guys know how much it would cost to replace the cracked lcd on a htcs710.

I cracked an LCD and need it replaced asap but needs to go to HTC or if you guys know a cheaper place in JHB where we can replace the LCD

You have 2 choices - either you let the device go to Leaf, the importers, or you find a Pakistani repair shop that can do it for one tenth of the cost that Leaf will do it for.

That is if Leaf will even touch the thing - they might just say it is BER (beyond economical repair), or FUBAR.

Hi.

It's not SA-based but www.cnn.cn is a good option if you're technically minded and feel like you can install a new screen yourself.
Their prices are pretty reasonable. The same thing happened to me with my S710 and Leaf quoted astronomical sums to have it repaired. I bought a replacement screen from CNN and fitted it myself.

If I remember correctly, you can choose shipping options which affect the price. There weren't any import costs in the way of customs - the parcel just sailed through.
That said, Leaf's prices have come down. They quoted me in excess of R1.5k to replace the screen last year.

Might it be cheaper to buy a new HTC s710 and get two years' warranty on the new phone, instead of a repaired phone with a month's warranty?

Just asking. ;)

You can pick up a 2nd almost new S710 for between R1200 and R2000 on Gumtree.

I would scout for a deal and try pick up a good cond one for R1000 rather than replacing the screen.
