The lack of an HTC Sensation thread, makes me think not a lot of guys have it.

But I'll ask the question anyway. How's the battery life? I'm helping someone decide on the Sensation vs. Galaxy s2. The S2 being about R500 more on most contracts, and considering the two phones are pretty much even in spec and reviews, the Sensation should be the obvious choice - except for battery life - I have the Desire (once bitten).

Reviews put the Sensation as having slightly better battery life than the S2. But reviews never get battery life spot-on, so if anyone has some experience with the phone, I'd like to hear about it.

I have one, and i get on average 2 days and 6+ hours (6/12 hours)

however this is with WIFI on and Mobile Data off

Sensation the obvious choice? Are you high? :p Which reviews have you been watching?

well, the main difference i can see from the two phones are that the galaxy s2 comes with 8gb more space (being 16gb in total)(if you didnt do the maths it means the sensation comes with 8gb :P )

Unless it's rom, onboard memory doesn't mean much.

I've used the original galaxy, and samsung destroyed the android experience on some brilliant hardware. That plus the price difference, makes the sensation the obvious choice for me.

Anyway, the question is about battery, and got my answer. Thanks.

The Galaxy SII is in a class of it's own. Every review I have seen confirms that.

I agree spec for spec its better hardware. But if you're not planning to root your phone and get rid of touchwiz, then I would go with the galaxy. Maybe i've just got a desire for htc.

techRadar:

"And while it is ridiculously close between the two devices, we think the Galaxy S2 is the overall winner, thanks to its combination of improved connectivity, slimmer chassis and superbly clear and bold screen.
That's not to say the HTC Sensation isn't a great phone too - we love HTC Sense 3.0 and the additional functionality that the improved UI brings, plus the larger screen has the highest resolution of any HTC phone thus far.
So we're crowning the Samsung Galaxy S2 our victor in the battle between the dual-core heavyweights, but if you've already got an HTC Sensation winging its way to you, don't despair as it's a very, very close second."

Colleague at work just got the Sensation, very nice, but side by side with the SGS2 (mine, so yes some bias :p ), the SGS2 is just sexier, clearer, and yes rooted, makes it even more awesome!... If you worried about battery life don't get a smart phone..

I was on the Desire HD and decided to get the Sensation. Ordered it from Vodacom on Business Call for R319 a month. I had a week to wait for my new toy so spent some time reading many many reviews and comparisons between the Sensation and SGS2.
On the day of delivery I had a change of heart and sent the courier back home with the Sensation. Popped up to Vodashop in Bedford Center and walked out with the SGS2 on the same package add the Sensation but R10 more PM. I love this device. Was a tough decision as I have been on the HTC train for many years. I am not at all sorry though.

Three primary factors for changing my mind....
1. Better screen on the SGS2.
2. Around 50% more processing powet on the SGS2. This mainly due to more mature drivers on the SGS2 and not necessarily hardware.
3. Camera is better on the SGS2. I use the camera features of my devices a lot so this was very important.
4. SGS2 is lighter and slimmer.
5. More internal storage.

I was stressing a bit about not having Sense, and got so used to Sense 3 on the DHD. I dumped Touchwiz very quickly (it really blows) and customized the kak out of my SGS2. I am now over Sense and loving my new toy.

Initially battery life was around a day with moderate to heavy use and wifi on 24/7. After rooting and flashing VR I get between 1.5 and 2 days on a charge. Awesome if you ask me :)

I use Tasker to switch Bluetooth on when wifi disconnects and back off when wifi connects again. This ensures I only have BT on when driving thereby looking after battery life.
I am generally always around a wifi so keep mobile data off and switch it on manually when I need it.

Just my quick 2c and will hopefully helps someone make a decision.
