I am due for an upgrade. Which phone should I get?

HTC Touch Diamond or Samsung Omnia?

Hey guys, please don't flood this thread....lol

well, i think from what I've seen others post about the Omnia, you should maybe go for the Diamond. The Omnia seems a bit crappy, but then again they are both WinMo devices so its much of a muchness. Do a compare on gsmarena.com

GSMARENA couldn't say which one wins, Alot of reading...

Both have their pro's and con's. I've got the diamond and very happy with it so far.....

I've played with the Omnia. A friend of mine has one. Just make sure you DON'T get the Vodaphone (from Vodacom) version. There is a bug in it so it only has 97MB internal memory+8GB memory card, instead of 8GB internal and 8GB memory card.
Other than that it is an absolutely awesome phone. The technology in that thing is amazing.

Omnia...
Look at the N82 Vs Omnia thread for details...

OK so its a toss up between the two. Which of the two's battery last the longest?

Not sure about the HTC, but the Omnia has ample juice for 550h standby and 5-6h talktime.

Are you able to load Linux onto the phones? If possible can you revert back to Windows mobile?

I must say I am starting to lean towards the Omnia, I used a HTC S710 for a few months and was not impressed with the HTC.
I think comparing the two phones are basically equal, you lose a bit here and win a bit there. So on the end of the day the battery life will make the pick for me.

What are other peoples experience with Samsung phones and their repair department? I have never in my life had a Samsung phone.

You can't compare the HTC S710 to the Diamond, that is like saying I had a Samsung D900 so I don't think I will like the omnia....The 2 phones are like chalk and cheese.

As for battery life, no the Diamond is not a winner in this category at all, but it doesn’t phase me....My battery gets about 3 days of moderate use, intensive use will see you through a day, maybe a day and a half.

Ok fair enough. I must say the battery is a bit of a worry to me. But then again I dont use my phones that much as other people. I might make one or two calls per day max.

Then you should be fine, my phone gets plugged into my pc every so often which charges it..works out nicely.

I've got the Vodafone version - there's no problem in the memory on mine:
The phone has the Main memory divided into Storage and Program, 92MB and 97MB respectively, then it has internal memory totalling to around 8GB, and then of course the 8GB memory card as well.

I vote Omnia. (but do note that the battery also doesn't last much more than a day with moderate use...)

Took it back to Vodacom, they say they have had a couple of those with too little memory...

Ive got a diamond. Great phone. just get a different Rom version. the stock Rom from HTC sucks. Cooked rom is the way to go..
